ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ, ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 10, 2026: ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು, ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವವರ ಅನುಭವಗಳಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ ನೀಡುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವೀಕಾರ ಮನೋಭಾವವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳು, ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ತಜ್ಞರು, ವಿವಿಧ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು, ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
“ಅನುಭವಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡಿ – ನೈಜ ಧ್ವನಿಗಳು, ನೈಜ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳು.” (Lived Experiences Heard. Real Voices, Real Change) ಎಂಬ ಆಶಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಡೆದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳ ಅನುಭವಗಳನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸುವುದು, ಅವರ ಭಾವನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಧ್ವನಿಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವ ನೀಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕಾರಾತ್ಮಕ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ತರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಾರಿತು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಸರಗೋಡಿನ ಎಎಸ್ಪಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಅಚ್ಯುತ್ ಅಶೋಕ್ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಖ್ಯಾತ ಮೆಂಟಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಶ್ರೀ ಆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಕೆ. ಎಸ್., ಲೇಖಕ, ಸಮಾಲೋಚಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಿಯೋ ಡಿ’ಸಿಲ್ವಾ, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಸಿರಿಲ್ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ, ಮನೋವೈದ್ಯರಾದ ಡಾ. ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯಾ ವಿ. ರಾವ್ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ರೋಜಿನಾ ಅನ್ನಾ ರೇ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಆಡಳಿತಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ವೀಣಾ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ಅತಿಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು. ಶ್ರೀ ಕ್ಲಿಂಟ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಅವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಮೆಂಟಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಶ್ರೀ ಆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಕೆ. ಎಸ್. ಅವರ ಮನಮೋಹಕ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವು ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯಿತು. ತಮ್ಮ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾತ್ಯಕ್ಷಿಕೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಾನವ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದ ಅವರು, ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳು, ಗ್ರಹಿಕೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯ ಕುರಿತು ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರು ಚಿಂತಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
ಇದರ ನಂತರ ಲೇಖಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಿಯೋ ಡಿ’ಸಿಲ್ವಾ ಅವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಸಂವಾದಾತ್ಮಕ ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ವಿವಿಧ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು. ಕಣಚೂರು ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಪ್ರಥಮ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಗಳಿಸಿದರೆ, ಪಂಡ್ಯರಾಜ್ ಬಲ್ಲಾಳ್ ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಯೆನಪೋಯ ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ತೃತೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡವು. ವಿಜೇತ ತಂಡಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಸಾಧನೆಗಾಗಿ ಟ್ರೋಫಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಗದು ಬಹುಮಾನಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 300 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಯೆನಪೋಯ ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜಕಾರ್ಯ ವಿಭಾಗ, ಪಂಡ್ಯರಾಜ್ ಬಲ್ಲಾಳ್ ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಕಣಚೂರು ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಆಲಿಯಾ ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಸಂತ ಅಲೋಶಿಯಸ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಪೀಪಲ್ಸ್ ಕೋ-ಆಪರೇಟಿವ್ ಆರ್ಟ್ಸ್ ಆ್ಯಂಡ್ ಸೈನ್ಸ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಮುನ್ನಾಡ್, ಶ್ರೀದೇವಿ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಕಾರ್ಸ್ಟ್ರೀಟ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಹಾಗೂ ಆರ್. ಕೆ. ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಯುವಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಜಾಗೃತಿ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವೀಯ ಆರೈಕೆಯ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವಿಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಯಿತು.
ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಾಹಕ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾದ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹ-ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಒಲಿವಿಯಾ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ, ವ್ಯಸನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಒಂಟಿತನದಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿರುವ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯ, ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗೂ ಗುಣಮುಖರಾಗಲು, ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ ಸಾಧಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವದಿಂದ ಬದುಕಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ದೊರೆಯಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಮೌಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಇವರ ಸೇವೆ ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡು, ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟು, ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮೂಹಿಕ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆಯ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಾರಿದರು. ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಆರೈಕೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಕೇವಲ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡುವುದಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ; ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕ ಬೆಂಬಲ, ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಿಕೆ, ಸ್ವೀಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಕಳೆದುಹೋದ ಭರವಸೆಯನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ನೀಡುವುದೂ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ನೆನಪಿಸಿತು.
ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸರಿತಾ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರು ವಂದನಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳು, ಗಣ್ಯರು, ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ತಜ್ಞರು, ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರು, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು, ಸಂಘಟಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಎಂದರೆ ಕೇವಲ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಗೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡುವುದಲ್ಲ; ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳ ಬದುಕಿನ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸುವುದು, ಅವರ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು, ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಕುರಿತ ಪೂರ್ವಾಗ್ರಹ ಮತ್ತು ಕಳಂಕವನ್ನು ನಿವಾರಿಸುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು, ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಮೌಲ್ಯಯುತ ಭಾವನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬದುಕಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವ ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವುದಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಬಲ ಸಂದೇಶದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯಗೊಂಡಿತು.
ಈ ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯವು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು, ಮಾನವೀಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ಆಶೆ, ಬೆಂಬಲ ಹಾಗೂ ಗೌರವಯುತ ಬದುಕಿನ ಅವಕಾಶ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸುವ ತನ್ನ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿತು.

Snehalaya Observes World Mental Health Day 2026 with a Message of Hope, Growth and Healing
Manjeshwar, October 10, 2026: Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre, Manjeshwar, celebrated World Mental Health Day with great enthusiasm and compassion, bringing together distinguished guests, mental health professionals, students, faculty members and staff to promote mental health awareness and foster a more inclusive and understanding society.
The programme centred on the theme “Lived Experiences Heard. Real Voices, Real Change,” emphasizing the importance of listening to people with mental health challenges, respecting their lived experiences and recognizing the power of their voices in bringing about meaningful change.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Shri Achyuth Ashok, ASP, Kasaragod, along with distinguished guests Mr. Alvin K. S., renowned mentalist; Mr. Geo D’Silva, writer, counsellor and social worker; Rev. Fr. Cyril D’Souza, Chaplain of Snehalaya; Dr. Aishwarya V. Rao; and Dr. Rojina Anna Ray, psychiatrists at Snehalaya.
The gathering was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Veena D’Souza, Administrator of Snehalaya, while Mr. Clint Joseph served as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring the smooth and engaging conduct of the programme.
A major highlight of the celebration was the captivating mentalism show presented by Mr. Alvin K. S. Through fascinating demonstrations, he engaged the audience and offered insights into the remarkable abilities of the human mind, encouraging participants to reflect on their thoughts, perceptions and mental potential.
Adding an element of excitement and intellectual engagement, Mr. Geo D’Silva conducted an interactive quiz competition for the participating students following the mentalism show. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and healthy competition among the colleges. Kanachuru Nursing College secured first place, Pandyaraj Ballal Nursing College emerged as the runner-up, and Yenepoya Nursing College won third place. The winning teams were honored with trophies and cash prizes in recognition of their achievement and participation.
The programme witnessed the participation of 300 students from various colleges across Mangaluru and Kasaragod, including Srinivas College, Yenepoya Nursing and Department of Social work, Pandyaraj Ballal Nursing College, Kanachuru Nursing College, Aaliyah Nursing College, St. Aloysius College, Peoples Cooperative Arts and science College, Munnada, Kasaragod Sridevi College, Carstreet College and R.K. nursing College, along with their faculty members. Their enthusiastic presence reflected the growing commitment of young people towards mental health awareness, social responsibility and compassionate care.
The occasion also recognized the vision and dedicated service of Br. Joseph Crasta, Founder and Executive Director of Snehalaya, and Mrs. Olivia Crasta, Co-founder, whose unwavering commitment continues to strengthen Snehalaya’s mission of caring for individuals experiencing mental illness, addiction and social isolation. Their dedication reflects the belief that every individual deserves an opportunity to heal, grow and live with dignity.
The trustees and staff of Snehalaya participated wholeheartedly, making the celebration a meaningful expression of unity, empathy and shared responsibility. The event served as a reminder that mental health care extends beyond medical treatment to include emotional support, understanding, acceptance and the restoration of hope.
Ms. Sarita Crasta delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, mental health professionals, participating colleges, faculty members, students, organizers and all those who contributed to the successful celebration.
The programme concluded with a powerful message: mental health is not merely about treating an illness; it is about listening to human stories, understanding individual struggles, challenging stigma and creating an environment where every person feels heard, valued and respected.
Through this celebration, Snehalaya reaffirmed its commitment to promoting mental health awareness, fostering human values and ensuring that every individual experiencing mental health challenges has access to hope, support and the opportunity to live with dignity.
