Snehalaya Rescues Destitute and Unwell Man Found on Bandiyod Road

Manjeshwar, September 19, 2026: The Snehalaya Charitable Trust rescue team safely rescued Mr. Manjunath, reportedly a native of Bengaluru, who was found in a destitute and unwell condition on Bandiyod Road in Kasaragod district. He has been admitted to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre for medical treatment, care and psychosocial support.

Mr. Manjunath was noticed wandering in a helpless condition near Bandiyod Road by Mrs. Pushpalatha, who informed Br. Joseph Crasta, Founder of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, about his situation. Acting promptly on the information, the Snehalaya rescue team reached the location, assessed his condition and brought him safely to Snehalaya for necessary care and treatment.

At the time of admission, Mr. Manjunath was observed to have poor personal hygiene, untidy clothing, disorganized speech and unusual behaviour. He also expressed thoughts suggesting that he was being harassed or harmed by others and was observed talking to himself. Considering his overall condition, the Snehalaya team identified the need for a safe environment, continuous care and appropriate medical attention.

Mr. Manjunath is currently receiving medical treatment, personal care, nutritious food, safe accommodation and psychosocial support at Snehalaya. The team is also providing rehabilitation assistance aimed at supporting his recovery, rebuilding his confidence and improving his ability to manage daily activities.

Meanwhile, the Snehalaya team is making continued efforts to trace his family members, relatives or acquaintances and gather further information regarding his identity and family background. Once his family is identified and the necessary verification is completed, the team will work towards facilitating his safe reunification with his family.

Snehalaya continues its humanitarian mission of providing rescue, treatment, shelter, rehabilitation and dignified care to destitute, vulnerable and mentally distressed individuals found without adequate support in public places.
