2026ರ ಜುಲೈ 25ರಂದು, ಶ್ರೀ ಮೊಹಮ್ಮದ್ ಸೈದರ್ ಶಾಹ ಅವರು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಲಾಲ್‌ಬಾಗ್‌ನ ಪಬ್ಬಾಸ್ ಐಸ್ ಕ್ರೀಮ್ ಪಾರ್ಲರ್ ಸಮೀಪ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ಅವರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಮರೀಟಾ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ಟೀನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರದರ್. ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿ, ಅವರ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೈಕೆಗಾಗಿ ನೆರವು ಕೋರಿದರು.

ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಾದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುವುದು, ತಮ್ಮಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ತಾವೇ ನಗುವುದು, ಶ್ರವಣ ಭ್ರಮೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅಸಂಬದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಂತಹ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ ಆಶ್ರಯ, ಅಗತ್ಯ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೃತ್ತಿಪರ ಆರೈಕೆಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮೊದಲು ಶ್ರೀ ಸೈದರ್ ಶಾಹ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಹೋಟೆಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಕುಟುಂಬದವರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅವರು ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಪೋಷಕರ ನಿಧನದ ನಂತರ ಅವರು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಚಿಂತಿತರಾಗಿ, ಇತರರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳುವುದನ್ನೂ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಇದರಿಂದ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಮೇಲೂ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರಿತು.

ಉದ್ಯೋಗದ ಹುಡುಕಾಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರನೊಂದಿಗೆ ದೆಹಲಿಗೆ ತೆರಳಿದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲವು ತಿಂಗಳುಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಕಡಿತಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಅವರ ಸಹೋದರರು ದೆಹಲಿಯ ವಿವಿಧ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಡುಕಾಟ ನಡೆಸಿದರೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಸುಮಾರು ಆರು ತಿಂಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಕುಟುಂಬದಿಂದ ದೂರವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದೊರೆತ ನಿರಂತರ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿಯ ಬಳಿಕ ಶ್ರೀ ಮೊಹಮ್ಮದ್ ಸೈದರ್ ಶಾಹ ಅವರು 2026ರ ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 9ರಂದು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರ ಮತ್ತು ಅತ್ತಿಗೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಮಡಿಲಿಗೆ ಮರಳಿದರು. ಅವರು ಮನೆಗೆ ಮರಳಿದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಅಪಾರ ಸಂತೋಷ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರೂ ಸಂತಸದಿಂದ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು.

ಮರುಮಿಲನದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ನಿಯಮಿತವಾಗಿ ಔಷಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸುವ ಮಹತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಂದುವರಿದ ಆರೈಕೆಯ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆ ಕುರಿತು ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ನಿರಂತರತೆಗೆ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಎರಡು ತಿಂಗಳ ಔಷಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.

Six Months Later, Snehalaya Care Helps Mohammad Saidhar Shaha Reunite with His Family

Manjeshwar, September 17, 2026: After spending nearly six months away from his family, Mr. Mohammad Saidhar Shaha, a native of Sitamarhi district in Bihar, has successfully reunited with his family with the support, care, treatment and rehabilitation services provided by Snehalaya Charitable Trust.

On July 25, 2026, Mr. Mohammad Saidhar Shaha was found wandering in a vulnerable and distressed condition near Pabbas Ice Cream Parlour in Lalbagh, Mangalore. Noticing his condition, Mrs. Mareeta Christine D’Souza of Mangalore immediately informed Br. Joseph Crasta, founder of Snehalaya, and sought assistance to ensure his safety and well-being.

Upon receiving the information, the rescue team from Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre immediately reached the location, rescued Mr. Shaha and safely brought him to the Snehalaya Centre on July 25, 2026.

At the time of admission, he displayed symptoms including wandering behavior, laughing to himself, auditory hallucinations and disorganized speech. Considering his condition, the centre provided him with a safe shelter, medical attention and professional care.

Following a medical evaluation, he was identified as having a possible schizoaffective disorder. He was subsequently provided with regular medication, mental health treatment, counselling, personal care and psychosocial rehabilitation services as part of his recovery.

Before the onset of his mental health difficulties, Mr. Shaha had been living with his family and working in a hotel. According to his family, he had been leading a stable life and maintained good relationships with others. However, following the death of his parents, he became increasingly worried, gradually withdrew from social interaction and eventually stopped going to work. This also affected the family’s financial situation.

In search of employment, Mr. Shaha travelled to Delhi with his brother and stayed there for several months. During this period, contact with his family was lost. His brothers searched for him at various locations in Delhi but were unable to trace him. He remained separated from his family for nearly six months.

Following continuous treatment, care and rehabilitation at Snehalaya, Mr. Mohammad Saidhar Shaha was successfully reunited with his brother and sister-in-law on September 9, 2026. His return brought immense happiness to his family, while neighbors also warmly welcomed him back home.

During the reunion, the family was counselled regarding his mental health condition, the importance of taking medication regularly and the need for continued care and treatment. To support continuity of treatment, Snehalaya provided the family with two months’ medication.

The responsibility for his continued care has now been taken over by his family. They were advised to ensure regular treatment and medical follow-up and were guided to continue his treatment at the Sitamarhi District Hospital, located close to their residence.

Under the guidance of Brother Joseph Crasta, Snehalaya continues its humanitarian mission of rescuing vulnerable and destitute individuals found in distress in public places and providing them with safe shelter, food, medical treatment, mental health care, counselling and rehabilitation. The organisation also works to trace their families and facilitate their safe reunion with their loved ones.

The successful reunion of Mr. Mohammad Saidhar Shaha stands as a meaningful example of how timely intervention, compassionate care, appropriate treatment, rehabilitation and family support can help restore hope and reconnect individuals with their families.
