ವಿವಾಹಿತರಾಗಿರುವ ರಿಯಾ ಅವರು 2026ರ ಜೂನ್ 24ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಶಿಫಾರಸಿನ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಮತ್ತು ತಂಡದವರು ರಿಯಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ-ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿದರು.
ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಮನೋವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ತಪಾಸಣೆಯ ವೇಳೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಕಿಜೋಫ್ರೇನಿಯಾ ಇರುವುದಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಕಳೆದ ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಅವರು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕುದುರೆಬೆಟ್ಟಂ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಔಷಧೋಪಚಾರ, ಮನೋವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಆರೈಕೆ, ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಸೇವೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡದ ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಿಂದ ತ್ರಿಶೂರ್ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕಿಲ್ಲನ್ನೂರು ಅಂಚೆ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಚೊಟ್ಟುಪಾರ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಅರುವೆಲಿಕ್ಕಲ್ ಹೌಸ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಲಾಯಿತು.
2026ರ ಜುಲೈ 22ರಂದು ರಿಯಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಅವರ ತಂದೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮರುಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷ 20 ದಿನಗಳ ಬಳಿಕ ಮನೆಗೆ ಮರಳಿದ ರಿಯಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವರ ತಂದೆ, ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು, ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರು ಅಪಾರ ಸಂತೋಷ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿ, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
ಕುಟುಂಬವು ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದಿದ್ದರೂ, ರಿಯಾ ಅವರ ಮುಂದಿನ ಆರೈಕೆಯನ್ನು ತಂದೆ, ಸಹೋದರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರು ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಾಗಿ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಲು ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಔಷಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸುವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

Riya Ouseph Reunited with Her Family After One Year and 20 Days
*Manjeshwar, July 24, 2026:* Mrs. Riya Ouseph, a resident of Chottupara village in Thrissur district, Kerala, was successfully reunited with her family through the continuous efforts of Snehalaya after being missing for one year and 20 days.
Riya, who is married, was found in a mentally distressed and helpless condition at Mangaluru Central Railway Station on June 24, 2026. Following a referral from the Mangaluru Central Railway Police, Snehalaya Founder Brother Joseph Crasta and his team rescued her from the railway station and admitted her to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre in Manjeshwar for treatment, care and rehabilitation.
During a psychiatric assessment conducted at the centre, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. According to her family, she had been suffering from mental illness for approximately one year and had previously received treatment at the Kuthiravattom Government Mental Health Centre.
During her stay at Snehalaya, she was provided with the necessary medication, psychiatric care, counselling and comprehensive rehabilitation services. Through the continuous efforts of the Snehalaya team, her family was traced to Aruvelikkal House in Chottupara village, under Killannur Post Office in Thrissur district.
On July 22, 2026, Riya was safely reunited with her father. Seeing her return home after one year and 20 days, her father, family members, relatives and neighbours expressed immense happiness and conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Snehalaya for its dedicated service.
Although the family is economically disadvantaged, her father, brother and relatives have assured that they will take responsibility for her continued care. Arrangements have also been made to send the necessary medicines from Snehalaya to ensure the continuation of her treatment.
Riya’s reunion marks another significant achievement in Snehalaya’s mission of restoring persons living with mental illness to their families with dignity, compassion and love.
