ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ, ಜುಲೈ 9, 2026: ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಸಮಯೋಚಿತ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಸ್ಪಂದನೆ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬರ ಬದುಕನ್ನೇ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಂತಹ ಒಂದು ಮನಮುಟ್ಟುವ ಘಟನೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸಮೀಪದ ಮುಲ್ಕಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿದೆ.

ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಹಳಿಯಾಳ ಮೂಲದ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಣಿಕಾಂತ ಅವರು ಜುಲೈ 8, 2026 ರಂದು ಮುಲ್ಕಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರು ಗಮನಿಸಿದರು. ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತೆಯ ಕೊರತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ದಿಕ್ಕುತೋಚದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಸ್ತೆಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವರು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಕಾರ್ಕಳದ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಮನೋಭಾವದ ಶ್ರೀ ಕಿರಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಕಾರ್ಕಳ ಅವರ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಈ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ, ಅವರ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿದ ಅವರು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಿ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಯಾವುದೇ ಹಿಂಜರಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ, ತಮ್ಮದೇ ವಾಹನದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಣಿಕಾಂತರವರನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ-ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿದರು.

ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಾದ ನಂತರ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ತಂಡವು ಶ್ರೀ ಮಣಿಕಾಂತರವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿತು. ಅವರು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳು, ಅಲೆದಾಡುವ ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತಿ, ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಕುಗ್ಗುವಿಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅನುಮಾನಪಡುವ ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಹೊಂದಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡುಬಂತು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಷಣ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಮನೋವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಮಾಪನ, ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ, ನಿರಂತರ ಆರೈಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಮನೋ-ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಅತ್ಯಗತ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಯಿತು.

Mentally Distressed Man from Uttara Kannada Rescued from Mulki Highway and Admitted to Snehalaya for Treatment and Rehabilitation

Manjeshwar, July 9, 2026: Mr. Manikanta, a native of Haliyal in Uttara Kannada district, was admitted to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre on July 8, 2026, after he was found wandering in a helpless condition on the Mulki main highway near Mangalore.

According to the information received, Mr. Kiran Kumar Karkala, a businessman from Karkala, noticed the distressed condition of Mr. Manikanta. He found him wandering helplessly on the roadside, with poor personal hygiene and in need of immediate care, protection, and support. Acting with humanity and social concern, Mr. Kiran Kumar informed Br. Joseph Crasta, the Founder of Snehalaya, about the situation.

He also personally brought Mr. Manikanta safely in his own vehicle and admitted him to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre in Manjeshwar.

At the time of admission, Mr. Manikanta was found to have poor personal hygiene, wandering behaviour, mild depression, and suspiciousness towards others. Looking at his condition, it was clear that he needed immediate medical attention, mental health assessment, counselling, proper care, supervision, and psycho-social rehabilitation support.

After his admission to Snehalaya, he was provided with safe shelter, food, clothing, personal care, and medical assistance. His psychiatric assessment, counselling, and rehabilitation process have been started to help him regain mental and emotional stability.
In the coming days, after improvement in his health condition, Snehalaya will make efforts to trace his family members through proper verification and reunite him with his loved ones.
