ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 28, 2026: ದಾವಣಗೆರೆ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಹರಿಹರ ಮೂಲದ ರಾಕೇಶ್ ಗೌಡ ಅವರು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರದ ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ದಿಕ್ಕುತೋಚದೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು. ಅವರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ನೋಡುವವರ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಕಲುಕುವಂತಿತ್ತು.

ವರ್ತನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗೊಂದಲ, ಅಸಂಬದ್ಧ ಮಾತುಗಳು, ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತೆಯ ಕೊರತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಅರಿವಿಲ್ಲದ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳು ಅವರು ತೀವ್ರ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ತಂಬಾಕು ಬಳಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆಕ್ರಮಣಕಾರಿ ವರ್ತನೆ ಅವರ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಗಂಭೀರಗೊಳಿಸಿತ್ತು.

ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 25, 2026ರಂದು, ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ತೆರಳಿದ್ದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡ, ಆ ವೇಳೆ ರಾಕೇಶ್ ಗೌಡರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿತು.

ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ತಂಡ ಅದನ್ನು ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಗಮನಿಸಿ, ರಾಕೇಶ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕರುಣೆಯಿಂದ ಸಮಾಧಾನಪಡಿಸಿ, ಯಾವುದೇ ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಗೌರವಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಇದು ಕೇವಲ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯ ನೀಡಿದ ಘಟನೆಯಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ, ಮಾನವೀಯತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವಯುತ ಬದುಕಿನ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕ್ಷಣವಾಗಿದೆ.

ದಾಖಲಾದ ತಕ್ಷಣ, ರಾಕೇಶ್ ಗೌಡರಿಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳು, ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತೆಯ ಪುನಃಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ಮನೋಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಒಮ್ಮೆ ರಸ್ತೆ ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗದ್ದಲದ ನಡುವೆ ಮರೆತುಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಜೀವ, ಇಂದು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ ಆಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಬದುಕಿನ ಮೊದಲ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಬರೆಯಲು ಸಜ್ಜಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

Shelter for a Life Lost in Wandering: A New Beginning at Snehalaya

Manjeshwar, March 28, 2026: Mr. Rakesh Gowda, a native of Harihara, Davanagere district, was found wandering in a disoriented state near the Surathkal bus stop in Mangaluru city. His condition was deeply distressing to witness. Signs such as confused behavior, irrelevant speech, poor personal hygiene, and lack of awareness of surroundings clearly indicated that he was facing severe mental and social distress. Additionally, tobacco use and aggressive behavior further worsened his condition.

On March 25, 2026, while the Snehalaya team had gone to Surathkal to rescue another individual in a mentally unstable condition, they noticed Rakesh Gowda in a similarly vulnerable state. In a situation often ignored or overlooked, the team responded with compassion and humanity. They approached him with care, reassured him, and respectfully rescued him without any force.

With the approval of the founder of Snehalaya, Br. Joseph Crasta, Mr. Rakesh Gowda was admitted to the Snehalaya Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre. This was not merely an act of bringing a wandering individual into shelter; it was a significant moment of restoring safety, dignity, and hope to a life standing on the edge of despair.

Upon admission, Rakesh Gowda was provided with essential medical evaluation, restoration of personal hygiene, and a structured psychosocial rehabilitation process. Considering his physical and mental condition, the care staff have been attending to him with dedicated attention and sensitivity. The eyes once filled with fear, confusion, and helplessness are now slowly beginning to reflect a ray of hope.

A life that was once lost amidst the chaos of the streets is now stepping into a safe and secure environment, ready to begin a new chapter. This phase in Rakesh Gowda’s life is not just the start of shelter—it marks the beginning of recovery, rebuilding, and rehumanization.

Through this act, Snehalaya has once again demonstrated the true spirit of humanity.
