ಮೂಲತಃ ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಯರ್ಮಲ್ಪಟ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ನಿವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಹರೀಶ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಅವರು ಹಲವು ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ವರ್ತನೆ, ಗೊಂದಲಭರಿತ ಮಾತು, ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತೆಯ ಕೊರತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಅರಿವಿನ ಅಭಾವ ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ ಈ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ತಕ್ಷಣದ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಹಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಗ್ರ ಮನೋಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿತು.

Compassionate Intervention: Snehalaya Admits Distressed Man Found Wandering in Surathkal

Manjeshwar, March 27, 2026: Continuing its humanitarian mission to provide care and protection to vulnerable individuals, Snehalaya Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre has once again carried out a commendable act of service. The team recently rescued and admitted Mr. Harish Shetty, who was found wandering in a mentally distressed condition in the Thadambail area of Surathkal.

Originally a resident of Yermalpat in Udupi district, Mr. Shetty had reportedly been wandering for several days. He exhibited unusual behavior, incoherent speech, lack of personal hygiene, and reduced awareness of his surroundings. Concerned locals identified that he required immediate medical attention and comprehensive psychosocial rehabilitation.

Upon receiving the information, the founder of Snehalaya, Br. Joseph Crasta, was promptly informed. The Snehalaya team quickly reached the location, followed safety protocols, and safely rescued Mr. Shetty. He was later brought to the centre and formally admitted on March 25, 2026.

Currently, Mr. Shetty is receiving essential medical care, nutritious food, hygiene support, personal care, and structured rehabilitation services. Under expert supervision, steps are being taken to improve his mental health and overall well-being.

Under the compassionate leadership of Br. Joseph Crasta, Snehalaya continues to provide a safe haven for destitute, wandering, and distressed individuals. The organization’s primary goal is to restore dignity, ensure safety, and help individuals reconnect with their families and society.
