Real story posted in Kannada by Mr Shaji – Life care Ambulance.

A woman with mental illnesses and leprosy has been wandering with pathetic condition from the past six months near Ajjarkadu District hospital and Brhamagiri area of Udupi. The public after watching her informed the concerned departments. Since there was no response from them, Mr. Vishnu shetty from Udupi rescued the woman and brought her to Manjeshwar and admitted her at Snehalaya.

This woman is Nagaveeni (55 years) from Dharmasthala Subramanya area. The treatment was carried out for her in Baliga hospital and District hospital at Udupi. After her treatment her relatives didn’t come to take her back and she found wandering on the streets. Her leg injuries and mental illness worsened her situation. The public couldn’t see her getting wet under the rain, seeking shelter near the parked vehicles and shedding the tears. They informed  the concerned department to provide care and protection to the woman but there was no positive response from the department.

Woman’s life in the last 6 months was a disaster in the civil society. Then Mr. Vishnu Shetty from Udupi requested Joseph Crasta, the Director of Snehalaya Charitable trust. He responded positively, with the help of an ambulance and female constable they brought her to Snehalaya.

ಅಜ್ಜರಕಾಡು ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಬಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಗಿರಿ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆದ 6 ತಿಂಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಷ್ಠ ರೋಗ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ  ಮಹಿಳೆ ಅನಾಗರಿಕ ಬದುಕಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಂದ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಇಲಾಖೆಗೆ ದೂರು ಹೋದರೂ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸದೆ ಇದ್ದಾಗ, ಅಂಬಲ್ಪಾಡಿಯ ವಿಶು ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಮಹಿಳೆಯನ್ನು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆದು ಕೇರಳದ ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿದ ಘಟನೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಮಹಿಳೆ ನಾಗವೇಣಿ(55ವರ್ಷ) ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ ಸುಬ್ರಮಣ್ಯ ಕಡೆಯವರೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇವರಿಗೆ ಬಾಳಿಗಾ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದು, ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ನಂತರ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರು ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗದ ಕಾರಣ  ಮಹಿಳೆ ರಸ್ತೆ ಬದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಕಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿನ ಗಾಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅನಾರೋಗ್ಯವು ಉಲ್ಬಣಗೊಂಡು, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ವಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶಾಂತಿ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು . ಈ  ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಮಹಿಳೆಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಗಮನಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಕುಷ್ಠ ರೋಗವಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದವರು ಕೈ ಚೆಲ್ಲಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಮಹಿಳೆಯ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಬದುಕು ಹಾಗೂ ಮಳೆಗಾಳಿಗೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ವಾಹನದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ತನ್ನಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಇಡುವ ದೃಶ್ಯ ನೋಡಲು ಅ ಸಾದ್ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇದು ಜನಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಿಳೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕನಿಕರ ಹಾಗೂ ನೋವು ಉಂಟು ಮಾಡಿತ್ತು.

ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿಶು ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿನಂತಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಇವರ ಮನವಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಿದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಆಶ್ರಮದವರು ಅನುಮತಿ ನೀಡಿದಾಗ ವಿಶು ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಆಂಬುಲೆನ್ಸ್ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ವೈದ್ಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು, ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಆರೋಗ್ಯಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಾದ ನಾಗಭೂಷಣ್ ಉಡುಪ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
