A destitute named Surendra Pillai aged approximately 60 years, was wandering on the streets of Miyapadavu near Hosangadi. He was rescued by the Manjeshwar police and admitted to Snehalaya. He was shabbily dressed and had psychiatric issues.
After the proper care and treatment, he started to participate in therapeutic activities and counseling sessions. The tireless efforts of the Snehalaya team resulted in tracing his address and contacted his family.
On 20/04/2023 his family members from Pathukani of Kanniyakumari District of Tamil Nadu reached Snehalaya and they were happy to see him. His relative Rajesh Surendran received him. They thanked Brother Joseph Crasta and the Team of Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre for all their selfless efforts in reuniting Surendra Pillai with his family.
ಹೊಸಂಗಡಿ ಸಮೀಪದ ಮಿಯಾಪದವಿನ ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸರಿಸುಮಾರು 60 ವರ್ಷ ಪ್ರಾಯದ ಸುರೇಂದ್ರ ಪಿಳ್ಳೈ ಎಂಬ ನಿರ್ಗತಿಕರೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಕೊಳಕಾದ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ಖಿನ್ನತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ದಾಖಲಾತಿ, ಸರಿಯಾದ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ನಂತರ ಅವರು ಅನೇಕ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡದ ಅವಿರತ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದ ಫಲವಾಗಿ ಆತನ ವಿಳಾಸ ಪತ್ತೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿ ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ದಿನಾಂಕ 20/04/2023 ರಂದು ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಕನ್ಯಾಕುಮಾರಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪತುಕಣಿಯಿಂದ ಆತನ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯವನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿದರು. ಮತ್ತು ಆತನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು. ಅವರ ಸಂಬಂಧಿ ರಾಜೇಶ್ ಸುರೇಂದ್ರ ರವರನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಸುರೇಂದ್ರ ಪಿಳ್ಳೈ ಅವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸೇರಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಸ್ವಾರ್ಥ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥರ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಮತ್ತು ತಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.
