A destitute named Anand, approximately 46 years old, was rescued from the streets of Kashibettu, Ujire by our trustees, Mr. Sharath Santhosh Pinto and Mrs. Josliya Crasta, with the help of Mr. Stephan. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Anand was promptly admitted to Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre for Men to receive the necessary care and treatment.
When discovered, Anand was found wandering in the rain, visibly hungry. To alleviate his immediate needs, he was provided with a water bottle and buns. It was observed that he is suffering from a mental illness. In addition, Anand has been habitually chewing tobacco for the past 15 years. He claims to be from Odisha.

ಉಜಿರೆಯ ಕಾಶಿಬೆಟ್ಟುವಿನ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತಿದ್ದ ಸುಮಾರು 46 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನ ಆನಂದ್ ಎಂಬ ನಿರ್ಗತಿಕನನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶರತ್ ಸಂತೋಷ್ ಪಿಂಟೋ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಜೋಸ್ಲಿಯಾ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರು ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ಟೀಫನ್ ಅವರ ಸಹಾಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು. ಅಗತ್ಯ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ಆನಂದ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕರ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಮಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆನೆದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಆನಂದನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ ನಮ್ಮ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟಿಗಳು ಆತನನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದಾಗ ಆತನು ಹಸಿವಿನಿಂದ ಇದ್ದದ್ದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಹೋಟೆಲಿನಿಂದ ಬನ್ಸ್ ಹಾಗು ನೀರಿನ ಬಾಟಲಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ತದನಂತರ ಸ್ಟಿವನ್ ರವರ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಆತನನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಗಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಆತನು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಖಿನ್ನತೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತಿದ್ದು ಸುಮಾರು ೧೫ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ತಂಬಾಕು ಸೇವನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಹಾಗು ತನ್ನ ಊರು ಒಡಿಶಾ ಎನ್ನುತಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
