In a deeply touching reunion that underscores the power of compassion and perseverance, a man who had been suffering from mental illness and living on the streets of Jeppu, Mangalore, has finally been reunited with his family. Known to the local community as Mr. Muthani, it was revealed that his real name is Musani. His journey back to his family’s embrace was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Joseph Crasta, the founder of Snehalaya Psycho-social Rehabilitation Center in Manjeswaram, and the support of Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation.

Musani had been under the care of Snehalaya Psycho-social Rehabilitation Center since 2011, where he received not just shelter but also the necessary medical and psychological treatment to aid in his recovery. The center, known for its commitment to rehabilitating individuals suffering from mental illnesses, played a crucial role in Musani’s journey towards reintegration into society.

The turning point came when Musani was transferred to Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation, an organization that specializes in tracing the families of lost individuals and facilitating their reunions. Through diligent efforts, the foundation was able to locate Musani’s family and arrange for a reunion.

The moment Musani and his brother saw each other, years of separation melted away in tears of joy and relief. The reunion was not just a testament to Musani’s resilience but also highlighted the unwavering support of organizations like Snehalaya Psycho-social Rehabilitation Center and Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation in restoring hope and dignity to the lives of those affected by mental illness.

Joseph Crasta, reflecting on the successful reunion, shared, “Seeing Musani reunite with his family after so many years is a reminder of why we do what we do. Musani’s brother, overwhelmed with emotion, expressed his gratitude to the organizations and everyone involved in making this reunion possible. “We had lost all hope of ever finding him again. ದಿನಾಂಕ 06.5.2011 ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಜೆಪ್ಪು ಬಳಿಯ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಿಕ್ಕು ತೋಚದೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತಿದ್ದ ಮುತಾಣಿ ಎಂಬ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತಿದ್ದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಸಹೋದರ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾರವರು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಅಂದಿನ ತಲಪಾಡಿ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಮೊದಲ ಮನೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುತಾಣಿ ಶಾರೀರಿಕ ನೈರ್ಮಲ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಆತನ ಕಾಲಿನ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾಯಗಳಾಗಿ ಕೀವು ಹರಿಯುತಿತ್ತು. ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ ಸುಧೀರ್ಘ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ವರ್ಷ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೈಕೆ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ವರ್ಷಗಳು ಸರಿದಂತೆ ಮುತಾಣಿಯ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಸುಧಾರಣೆ ಕಂಡುಬಂತು  ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ಆಪ್ತ ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ಅಂತೆಯೆ ಮುಂಬೈಯ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳ ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆತನ ವಿಳಾಸವನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆ ಹಚ್ಚಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು.

ದಿನಾಂಕ 09.03.2024ರಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಗಾಜಿಯರ್ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ರೇವತಿನಗರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆತನ ಕುಟುಂಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆತನ ಪುನರ್ಮಿಲನವಾಯಿತು.ವಿಶೇಷ ಸಂಗತಿ ಎನೆಂದರೆ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ವರ್ಷದ ಬಳಿಕ ತನ್ನ ಊರಿಗೆ ಮರಳಿದ ಮುತಾಣಿಯನ್ನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಮುತಾಣಿ ಯಾದವ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವರ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಹಿರಿಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ  ಆತನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವಾಗಿ ವಯಸ್ಸಾದ ಮಹಿಳೆಯೊಬ್ಬರು ಆತನನ್ನು ಗುರುತು ಹಿಡಿದು ಆತನ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸರಿಯಾದ ವಿಳಾಸವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು. ಇಷ್ಟು ವರ್ಷದ ಬಳಿಕ ಮುತಾಣಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂಪಡೆದ ಆತನ ಅಣ್ಣ ತುಂಬಾ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟನು ಅಂತೆಯೆ ಈ ಪುಣ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಶೃದ್ಧಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳಿಗೆ ತುಂಬು ಹೃದಯದ ಕೃತಜ್ನತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.
