On March 17, 2013, Bro Joseph Crasta, the founder of Snehalaya, rescued a person named Venkata Chalapathy from the streets of Valencia, Mangalore. He was admitted to the first home of Snehalaya, and at the time of admission, he was suffering from mental illness. Over the years, his mental condition improved due to the care and treatment provided at Snehalaya. For the further reunion process, he was transferred to Shraddha, Mumbai.
On May 27, 2024, he was successfully reunited with his family in Kolar district of Karnataka. His family was very happy to see him after 15 years, and they became emotional. According to his family, he had been suffering from mental illness for the past 18 years and had left home without informing them. Medicines were provided to him, and his family promised to take good care of him. The family expressed their gratitude towards Snehalaya and Shraddha Centres for their selfless service.
ದಿನಾಂಕ 17.03.2013 ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ವೆಲೆನ್ಸಿಯಾ ಬಳಿಯ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಿಕ್ಕು ತೋಚದೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತಿದ್ದ ವೆಂಕಟ ಚಲಪತಿ ಎಂಬ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಸಹೋದರ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾರವರು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಅಂದಿನ ತಲಪಾಡಿ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಮೊದಲ ಮನೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ವರ್ಷಗಳು ಸರಿದಂತೆ ಚಲಪತಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಸುಧಾರಣೆ ಕಂಡುಬಂತು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳ ಆಪ್ತ ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ಅಂತೆಯೆ ಮುಂಬೈಯ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳ ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆತನ ವಿಳಾಸವನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆ ಹಚ್ಚಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು.
ದಿನಾಂಕ 27.05.2024ರಂದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕೋಲಾರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆತನ ಕುಟುಂಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪುನರ್ಮಿಲನವಾಯಿತು. ಹದಿನೈದು ವರ್ಷದ ಬಳಿಕ ಚಲಪತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂಪಡೆದ ಆತನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ತುಂಬಾ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು. ಕುಟುಂಬಿಕರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಚಲಪತಿ ಕಳೆದ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತಿದ್ದನು ಆತ ನಿಮಾನ್ಸ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಔಷಧಿ ಸೇವಿಸದ ಕಾರಣ ಆತನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಹದೆಗಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಕುಟುಂಬಿಕರು ಈ ಪುಣ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಶೃದ್ಧಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳಿಗೆ ತುಂಬು ಹೃದಯದ ಕೃತಜ್ನತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
