A person named Manikandan, approximately 27 years old, was found wandering the streets near Adi Udupi. He was suffering from mental illness, and unfortunately, the locals mistook him for a thief and beat him. Thankfully, at the right time, he was rescued by social worker Mr. Vishu Shetty, who admitted him to the hospital. Mr. Shetty then contacted Bro Joseph Crasta, and under his guidance, he admitted Manikandan to Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre for Men in Manjeshwar with the help of Udupi town police.
After receiving care and treatment at Snehalaya, Manikandan’s condition improved. During counseling sessions, his address was found, and his family was contacted. On July 7, 2024, his family arrived at Snehalaya. His sister and brother-in-law received him, and Bro Joseph Crasta greeted them and wished a bright future for Manikandan as he had cleared a government exam and was soon joining his new job. The family expressed their gratitude towards Snehalaya for the selfless service.

ದಿನಾಂಕ 25/05/2024 ರಂದು ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಆದಿ ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿದ ಮಣಿಕಂಠನ್ ಎಂಬ 27 ವರ್ಷದ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥ ಯುವಕನು, ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಸ್ಥಳಿಯರಿಂದ, ಕಳ್ಳನೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿ ತೀವ್ರ ಹಲ್ಲೆಗೊಳಗಾಗಿ ಕಾಲು ಸೊಂಟ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೀವ್ರ ನೋವು ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶು ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಅಂಬಲಪಾಡಿಯವರು ಉಡುಪಿ ನಗರ ಪೋಲಿಸರ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಸಹೋದರ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾರವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಂತೆ, ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥರ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯಿಂದ ಆತನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಧಾರಣೆ ಕಂಡುಬಂತು, ಆಪ್ತ ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆತ ತನ್ನ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡನು, ಹಿಗೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡವು ಆತನ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಿತು.
ದಿನಾಂಕ 07/07/2024 ರಂದು ಕೇರಳದ ಇಡುಕ್ಕಿಯಿಂದ ಆತನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದರು. ಆತನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತುಂಬಾ
ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು. ಮಣಿಕಂದನ್ ಪದವಿಧರನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತಿರ್ಣನಾಗಿ ಕೆಲವೆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಲಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಸಹೋದರ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾರವರು ಆತನಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆತನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರಿಗೆ ಶುಭ ಹಾರೈಸಿದರು.ಕುಟುಂಬಿಕರು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕೃತಜ್ನತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
ದಯಮಾಡಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಇಂತಹ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥರು ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಹಲ್ಲೆಮಾಡದೆ,ಅವರ ತಮಾಶೆ ಮಾಡದೆ, ಸ್ಥಳಿಯ ಪೋಲಿಸರನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಹೋದರ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾರವರಿಗೆ ಪೋನ್ ಮಾಡಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿ ಆ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿ ವಿನಂತಿ.
