Bikram Das Reunited with His Family After Four Months

Manjeshwar, November 4, 2026: Mr. Bikram Das, a native of Falakata in Alipurduar district, West Bengal, was successfully reunited with his father, mother, brother, sister-in-law, and uncle after four months, thanks to the compassionate care, treatment, and rehabilitation provided by Snehalaya Charitable Trust and Shraddha Foundation.

On September 2, 2026, Mr. Saju, a member of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), noticed Bikram in a distressed and vulnerable condition near Mangalore Central Railway Station. He immediately informed Br. Joseph Crasta, Founder of Snehalaya Charitable Trust. Responding promptly, the Snehalaya team rescued Bikram and admitted him to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre for treatment and care.

At the time of admission, Bikram exhibited symptoms such as excessive talking, lack of sleep, aggressive behaviour, talking to himself, and hyperactivity. He received the necessary medical treatment, psychosocial support, and continuous care. To facilitate his reunion with his family, he was transferred to Shraddha Foundation in Karjat, Mumbai, on October 18, 2026.

The 33-year-old had been leading a stable life before the onset of his mental health difficulties. After completing his college education, he started his own cable television business. He was married and had a daughter. However, significant business losses and mounting debts placed him under severe financial and emotional stress. The family’s financial difficulties further aggravated his condition. Gradually, he lost his ability to work and withdrew from social interactions.

Despite his family’s efforts to support and encourage him, his condition did not improve as expected. He had previously received treatment in Jalpaiguri. Later, hoping to find work and earn money, he left home with friends and subsequently went missing. His family searched extensively for him and also filed a missing-person complaint with the police. For nearly four months, they had no information about his whereabouts, leaving them deeply worried about his safety.

Through the sustained efforts of Snehalaya Charitable Trust and Shraddha Foundation, Bikram’s family was eventually traced. On November 3, 2026, he was reunited with his family, bringing immense relief and happiness after months of uncertainty. His family expressed profound joy at finding him safe, while Bikram was also delighted to be reunited with his loved ones.

Following the reunion, his family agreed to take responsibility for his continued treatment and care. They were advised to approach Falakata Government Hospital in Alipurduar district, West Bengal, for further treatment. The family was also counselled on the importance of regular medication, medical follow-ups, and consistent support. Arrangements were made to provide the medicines required for his continued treatment.

The successful reunion highlights the vital role of Snehalaya Charitable Trust and Shraddha Foundation in rescuing vulnerable individuals, providing appropriate treatment and rehabilitation, and helping them reconnect with their families. Bikram’s story underscores the importance of compassionate care, timely mental health treatment, and family support in the recovery and rehabilitation of people experiencing mental health difficulties.
