ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಲು ಅವರನ್ನು ಜನವರಿ 9, 2026 ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಿಂದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡವು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಅದೇ ದಿನ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ-ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿತು. ಅವರು ಅಸ್ವಚ್ಛ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳು, ಹಾಗೂ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾದ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿತ್ತು.

ಲಭ್ಯ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಲು ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗಳು ದುರ್ಗಾಳನ್ನು ಹೈದರಾಬಾದ್‌ಗೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬರುವ ವೇಳೆ, ವಯೋಸಹಜ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾದ ಕಾರಣ ದಾರಿ ತಪ್ಪಿ ಹಲವಾರು ತಿಂಗಳು ರಸ್ತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ರಕ್ತಸಂಬಂಧಿ ಬಂಧುಗಳು ಉಳಿದಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ, ತಮ್ಮ ದತ್ತಕ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಅವರನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮವರಾಗಿ ಮನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಮುಂಬೈನ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್‌ನ ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳು ಬಲಗೊಂಡು, ಕೊನೆಗೂ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸದಸ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಸಾಧಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು.

ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 15, 2026 ರಂದು, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ದತ್ತಕ ಕುಟುಂಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ—ಮೊಮ್ಮಗಳು ಸಪ್ನಾ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಪತಿ ರವಿ ಮೇಷ್ರಾಮ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ—ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಮರುಸೇರಿಸಿತು. ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಹಾಮೊಮ್ಮಗನನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾದಾಗ, ಈ ಮರುಸಂಗಮವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಭಾವುಕ ಕ್ಷಣವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕುಟುಂಬವು ಅಪಾರ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಆರೈಕೆಯನ್ನು ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

Family Reunion Brings Hope: Snehalaya Reunites Missing Elderly Man with Foster Family After Months

Manjeshwar, March 17, 2026: In a compassionate act of service, the Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Kasaragod, successfully reunited Mr. Ramalu Gattewar from Durgapur village, Chandrapur District, Maharashtra, with his foster granddaughter and her husband after he had been missing for about 3–4 months.

Mr. Ramalu was picked up by the Snehalaya team on January 9, 2026, from Central Railway Station, Mangalore, and admitted to the Snehalaya Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre on the same day. He was found wandering in a vulnerable condition, with poor personal hygiene, self-muttering, and symptoms of dementia, requiring care and supervision.

According to available information, Mr. Ramalu had travelled to Hyderabad to drop his granddaughter Durga. Due to old-age dementia, he lost his way and had been roaming on roadsides for several months. He does not have any remaining blood relatives, but he shared details of his foster family, whom he considers his own.

With the coordinated support of Shredha Foundation, Mumbai, efforts to trace his family were strengthened, leading to successful identification and contact with his loved ones.

On March 15, 2026, Snehalaya successfully reunited him with his foster family, including his granddaughter Sapna and her husband Ravi Meshram. The reunion was deeply emotional, especially when Mr. Ramalu met his great-grandson. The family expressed immense happiness and assured that they would take proper care of him.

Mr. Ramalu was overwhelmed with emotion, expressed his gratitude to the Snehalaya team, and promised to continue his medication and not to go out alone again.

Under the guidance of Br. Joseph Crasta, and with the support of Shredha Foundation, Mumbai, Snehalaya continues its mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and reuniting vulnerable individuals with their families, bringing hope and dignity back into their lives.
