ಒಬ್ಬ ತಂದೆಯೂ ಮನೆಗೆ ಮರಳಿದ ಮನಮುಟ್ಟುವ ಕಥೆ

ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ಗದ್ದಲದ ನಡುವೆ ಅನೇಕ ಕಥೆಗಳು ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಜನರ ಓಡಾಟ… ರೈಲುಗಳ ಸದ್ದು… ಯಾರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿಯದ ನೋವುಗಳು… ಅಂತಹವೇ ಒಂದು ಮೌನದ ಕಥೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಭಾಗವಾನ್ ದಾಸ್ ಅವರದು.

ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಲಲಿತ್ಪುರ್ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಭಾಗವಾನ್ ದಾಸ್ ಅವರು ಸುಮಾರು 25 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋರಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಬಡತನವು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ನೆರಳಾಗಿತ್ತು. ದಿನಗೂಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತ ಬದುಕು ಸಾಗಿಸುವ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಯಮಿತ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಾಲ ಕಳೆದಂತೆ ಅವರ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಗೊಂದಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿತು… ಮಾತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಥ ಕಳೆದುಹೋಯಿತು… ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುಮಾನ ನೆಲೆಸಿತು.
ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ, ಒಂದು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ… ಅವರು ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು. ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಅವರ ಮಗ ಚಹಾ ಅಂಗಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿ ಮನೆ ನಡಿಸುವ ಸರಳ ಯುವಕ ….. ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನ ಕಡೆ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ.“ಅಪ್ಪಾ… ನೀವೆಲ್ಲಿ?” ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಅವನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಪ್ರತಿ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮೌನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ… ಪ್ರತಿ ದಿನ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಹುಡುಕಾಟ…

12/12/2025. ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಜಂಕ್ಷನ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಗೊಂದಲಭರಿತ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಊತ… ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿರಿಕಿರಿ… ತಾನೇ ನಗುತ್ತ… ಸಂಬಂಧವಿಲ್ಲದ ಮಾತುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ… ಅದು ಭಾಗವಾನ್ ದಾಸ್. ಜೀವನದ ಅಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತತ್ತರಿಸಿ, ದಿಕ್ಕುತೋಚದೆ ನಿಂತ ಜೀವ.

ಅವರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ ಕರುಣೆಯ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಿಲ್ಲ. ತಕ್ಷಣ
ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರ. ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ-ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭವಾಯಿತು ಒಂದು ಹೊಸ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯ.
ಅದು ಕೇವಲ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಅಲ್ಲ… ಅದು ಮಮತೆ. ಅದು ಕೇವಲ ಔಷಧಿ ಅಲ್ಲ… ಅದು ಮಾನವೀಯತೆ.
ಮನೋವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಮಾಪನ, ಸರಿಯಾದ ಔಷಧೋಪಚಾರ, ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ, ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹನೆ ದಿನದಿಂದ ದಿನಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಮೋಡಗಳು ಕಳೆದುಹೋಗತೊಡಗಿದವು. ಗೊಂದಲದ ಕತ್ತಲಿನಿಂದ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟತೆಯ ಬೆಳಕಿನತ್ತ ಅವರು ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದುಬಂದರು.
ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಅವರ ಊರು, ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ, ದೂರದ ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಮನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಸಾಧಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಆ ಫೋನ್ ಕರೆ ಮಗನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಶೆಯ ಕಿರಣವಾಯಿತು. “ಅಪ್ಪಾ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ… ಸುಧಾರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ…” ಆ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯವಿಲ್ಲ… ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಮಾತ್ರ.

07-02-2026. ಮರುಸಂಗಮದ ದಿನ. ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳ ನೋವು, ಅನಿಶ್ಚಿತತೆ, ಮೌನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳು — ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಆ ಒಂದು ಅಪ್ಪುಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರಗಿ ಹೋಯಿತು. ಮಗ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಗಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದಾಗ, ಅದು ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಮಿಲನವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಅದು ಭರವಸೆಯ ವಿಜಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಮನೆಗೆ ಮರಳುವಾಗ ಎರಡು ತಿಂಗಳ ಔಷಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಯಮಿತ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಆಶೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯನ್ನೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ರೈಲು ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ, ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸೌಹಾರ್ದದ ಅಪ್ಪುಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಾಗಿ ಕುಳಿತ ತಂದೆಯವರೆಗೆ…. ಭಾಗವಾನ್ ದಾಸ್ ಅವರ ಪಯಣ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಕರುಣೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಸಾಬೀತುಪಡಿಸಿದೆ.
ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಾ ಧ್ಯೇಯವನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ….

ರಕ್ಷಣೆ… ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ… ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ… ಮರುಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಕೆ… ಭಗ್ನ ಹೃದಯಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಯಾವ ಜೀವವೂ ಆಶೆಯಾಚೆ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಯಾವ ಕುಟುಂಬವೂ ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾಗಿ ಭಗ್ನವಾಗಬೇಕಾಗಿಲ್ಲ.

From Tears of Separation to an Embrace of Hope: A Father’s Journey Back Home

Manjeshwar, February 27, 2026: After four long months of fear, uncertainty, and silent prayers, Mr. Bhagwan Das was finally reunited with his family in a deeply emotional moment that words can scarcely capture. As his son — a humble tea stall worker struggling to support his family — saw his father standing before him, stable and improved, he could not hold back his tears. The pain of not knowing whether his father was safe, alive, or suffering had weighed heavily on his heart. That burden melted into relief the moment they embraced.

Mr. Bhagwan Das (S/O Thovan), a native of Burogaon village, Barh Post, Lalitpur District, Uttar Pradesh, has been battling mental illness for nearly 25 years. Due to severe financial hardship, consistent psychiatric treatment was not possible. Over time, his condition worsened, and four months ago, he went missing from home, leaving his family in distress and helplessness.

On 12-12-2025, he was found wandering in a confused and disturbed state at Mangaluru Junction Railway Station . He had swelling in his hand and was exhibiting ADS symptoms, suspiciousness, self-smiling, irritability, irrelevant speech, and disoriented behaviour  clear signs of serious psychiatric distress and vulnerability.

He was immediately rescued and admitted the same day to the Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre of Snehalaya Charitable Trust , under the compassionate guidance of Br. Joseph Crasta.

What followed was not just treatment, but patient, structured, and loving care. Through psychiatric evaluation, appropriate medication, counselling, and continuous monitoring, his condition gradually began to stabilize. Day by day, with dignity and compassion, he was brought back from confusion toward clarity.

During rehabilitation, the team carefully identified his background and reconnected him with his family in Uttar Pradesh. After ensuring he was medically stable and fit to travel, Snehalaya facilitated his safe reunion on 07/02/2026.

The reunion was filled with tears — tears of relief, gratitude, and renewed faith. His son expressed deep thankfulness for the remarkable improvement in his father’s health and for the compassionate efforts of the Snehalaya team. At the time of reunion, two months’ supply of medicines was provided along with clear instructions about mental health management and the importance of regular follow-up treatment.

From wandering alone on a railway platform to resting again in the warmth of his family’s embrace, Mr. Bhagwan Das’ journey is a testimony to the power of timely intervention and human compassion.

Snehalaya continues its unwavering mission of rescuing, treating, rehabilitating, and reuniting mentally ill, homeless, and abandoned individuals — restoring dignity, rebuilding broken families, and reminding society that no life is ever beyond hope.
