ವ್ಯಾಲೆನ್ಸಿಯಾ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ಗದ್ದಲದ ಬೆಳಕುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ, ಜನರ ಓಡಾಟದ ನಡುವೆ, ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಗಮನಿಸದಂತೆ ಒಂದು ಜೀವ ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ಮಸಕಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಒಡಿಶಾ ಮೂಲದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು. ಅಸಮರ್ಪಕ ವೇಷಭೂಷಣ, ಕುಗ್ಗಿದ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಒಳಗೆ ಹೊತ್ತಿರುವ ನೋವು… ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಅವರ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಕತ್ತಲೆಗೆ ತಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.
ಅವರು ಕೇವಲ ದೇಹದ ದಣಿವು ಮಾತ್ರ ಹೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಗೊಂದಲ, ವ್ಯಸನದ ಬಂಧನ, ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯದ ಭಾರವೂ ಅವರ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಜಡವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಹಲವರಿಗೆ ಅವರು “ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬ ಅಲೆದಾಡುವ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ”ಯಂತೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಅವರು ತುರ್ತು ಆರೈಕೆಗೆ ಅರ್ಹನಾದ ಮಾನವ ಜೀವ….
ಈ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ಗಮನಿಸಿದವರು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ನಾಗರಿಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಅನುಜ್ ಎಂ. “ಇವನು ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕಾದವನು ಅಲ್ಲ, ನೆರವಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಹನು,” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರ ಒಂದು ದೂರವಾಣಿ ಕರೆ ಶಿವಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಅವರ ಬದುಕಿನ ತಿರುವುಬಿಂದು ಆಯಿತು.
ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರ. ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಡವು ಕ್ಷಣಾರ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿತು. ಅನುಮಾನದಿಂದಲ್ಲ, ಸಹನೆಯಿಂದ ಅವರು ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿದರು. ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರದಿಂದಲ್ಲ, ಮೃದುವಾದ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ತುಂಬಿದರು. “ನೀವು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ” ಎಂಬ ಭರವಸೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಣಾತ್ಮಕ ಆರೈಕೆಗೆ ಕರೆತರಲಾಯಿತು.
ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 10, 2026 ರಂದು, ಶಿವಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿ, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ, ಮನೋವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯಮಾಪನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಗ್ರ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ರಸ್ತೆಯು ನೀಡದ ಸ್ಥಿರತೆ, ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಮಮತೆ… ಈಗ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಆರೈಕೆಯ ಗೋಡೆಗಳೊಳಗೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಪ್ರತಿ ಅಲೆದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಒಂದು ನೋವಿನ ಕಥೆ ಇತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಈ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಹಸ್ತಕ್ಷೇಪದಿಂದ ಆ ಕಥೆ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ
ಅನಿಶ್ಚಿತತೆಯಿಂದ ಆರೈಕೆಗೆ, ಒಂಟಿತನದಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ, ರಸ್ತೆಯಿಂದ ಆಶಾಕಿರಣದತ್ತ.

On February 10, 2026, Shivaprasad was formally admitted to Snehalaya for medical examination, psychological evaluation, and structured rehabilitation. What the streets could not give him — stability, dignity, compassion — he has now begun to receive within the caring walls of Snehalaya.
Every wandering step he took carried a story of pain. Every moment of neglect reflected a system that sometimes looks away. But through this intervention led by Br. Joseph Crasta, that story has begun to change. From uncertainty to care. From isolation to protection. From the streets to hope.
