Mangaluru, January 15, 2026: Mr. Abdul Shami, a native of Bangalore, was safely rescued and admitted to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre after being found in a vulnerable condition at the Mangaluru Central Railway Station.

The admission took place on January 09, 2026, after Mr. Abdul Shami was noticed wandering at the railway station exhibiting symptoms such as poor personal hygiene, self-talking, irrelevant speech, wandering behavior, and tobacco use. The matter was first reported by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Mangaluru Central Railway Station, and the information was immediately conveyed to Bro. Joseph Crasta, enabling timely intervention by the Snehalaya team.

Responding promptly to the information received, the Snehalaya rescue team carried out his rescue from the railway station and ensured his safe transportation to the rehabilitation centre. Considering his mental state and the urgent need for care, protection, and continuous supervision, he was admitted for further observation and treatment.

Following admission, Mr. Abdul Shami has been provided with basic medical care, close monitoring, and psycho-social support. Detailed assessments are currently underway to understand his condition, background, and personal history. Efforts will also be initiated to trace his family members and facilitate a possible reunion.

ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣ. ಗದ್ದಲ, ಘೋಷಣೆಗಳು, ಓಡಾಟ… ಆದರೆ ಆ ಗದ್ದಲದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ,
ಒಬ್ಬ ಮೌನದ ಕಿರುಚಾಟ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಕೇಳಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರೇ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಶಾಮಿ. ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ದಣಿವು,

2026ರ ಜನವರಿ 09ರಂದು, ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ರೈಲು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಪಡೆ (RPF) ಆ ಮೌನದ ನೋವನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿತು. ಕ್ಷಣಕಾಲದಲ್ಲೇ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ಟಾ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿತು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕರುಣೆ ಜಾಗೃತವಾಯಿತು.

“ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ರೋಗಿಗಳಲ್ಲ… ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಗುಣಮುಖವಾಗಬೇಕಿರುವ ಮಾನವರು.”
