Manjeshwar, January 13, 2026: Mr. Katka Padya, a native of Jhunjhko Village, Padarkola, Pakur District, Jharkhand, was successfully reunited with his uncle, brother, and sister on December 30, 2025, after being missing for nearly one year. He has been separated from his wife and has a 22-year history of mental illness. During his absence, no form2wal missing complaint had been registered by the family.

Mr. Katka had earlier traveled out of state in search of employment along with some villagers, after which he went missing and eventually became homeless and vulnerable.

On November 19, 2025, the Snehalaya rescue team rescued Mr. Katka from the Central Railway Station, Mangaluru, where he was found in a distressed, confused, and disoriented condition, unable to care for himself. Acting swiftly on the information received, the team ensured his safe rescue and immediate support.

Following a thorough assessment of his physical and mental condition, Mr. Katka was admitted to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre on November 19, 2025 . Under the guidance and leadership of Br. Joseph Crasta, along with the dedicated Snehalaya care team, he received psychiatric evaluation, medical treatment, counselling, and continuous emotional support in a safe and dignified environment. According to the rehabilitation staff, he showed steady and positive improvement with regular treatment and care.

The Snehalaya team, in close coordination with Shraddha Foundation, Mumbai, undertook sustained and meticulous efforts to trace Mr. Katka’s identity and family background. These collaborative humanitarian efforts proved successful, leading to his reunion with family members at his native place in Jharkhand.

The reunion was deeply emotional, with the family expressing immense gratitude, relief, and happiness. The response from villagers and neighbors was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting strong community compassion and solidarity.

This successful reunion stands as a strong example of compassionate humanitarian service and inter-organizational collaboration, highlighting the committed efforts of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Kasaragod, under the guidance of Br. Joseph Crasta, and Shraddha Foundation, Mumbai, in restoring dignity, hope, and family bonds for individuals affected by mental illness and displacement.

ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ, ಜನವರಿ 13, 2026: “ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಕಳೆದುಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,ಅವನ ನೆನಪುಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ದಾರಿತಪ್ಪುತ್ತವೆ.”

ಜಾರ್ಖಂಡ್ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಪಾಕೂರ್ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪಡಾರ್ಕೋಲಾ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಝುಂಜ್ಖೋ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ನಿವಾಸಿಯಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಕಟ್ಕಾ ಪದ್ಯ ಅವರ ಬದುಕು ಕೂಡ ಇಂತಹ ಹಾದಿತಪ್ಪಿದ ನೆನಪುಗಳ ಕಥೆಯೇ. ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷ ಕಾಲ ಅವರು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸಂಪರ್ಕದಿಂದ ದೂರವಾಗಿದ್ದರು. 2025ರ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 30ರಂದು, ಆ ಮೌನದ ವರ್ಷ ಕೊನೆಗೊಂಡು, ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮಾವ, ಸಹೋದರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹೋದರಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಸೇರುವ ಕ್ಷಣ ಜೀವಂತವಾಯಿತು.
ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪತ್ನಿಯಿಂದ ಬೇರ್ಪಟ್ಟವರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕಳೆದ 22 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋರಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ನಾಪತ್ತೆಯ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ನಾಪತ್ತೆ ದೂರು ಕುಟುಂಬದಿಂದ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
“ಉದ್ಯೋಗದ ಕನಸು ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಬದುಕನ್ನೇ ದೂರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುತ್ತದೆ.”
ಕೆಲಸ ಹುಡುಕುವ ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಕೆಲ ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರೊಂದಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಹೊರಗೆ ತೆರಳಿದ ಕಟ್ಕಾ ಪದ್ಯ, ಕಾಲಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಕಾಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಗೃಹರಹಿತ ಹಾಗೂ ಅತೀವ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದರು. ಪರಿಚಯವಿಲ್ಲದ ನಗರಗಳು, ಮಾತನಾಡದ ಮುಖಗಳು, ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಾಯವಿಲ್ಲದ ದಿನಗಳು, ಅವರ ಬದುಕು ಬೀದಿಗಳ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿತು.
“ಬೀದಿಗಳು ಅನಾಥರನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅಸಹಾಯತೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮರೆಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ.”
2025ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 19ರಂದು, ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೊಂದಲಗೊಂಡ, ಅಶಾಂತ ಮತ್ತು ದಿಕ್ಕುತಪ್ಪಿದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಸ್ವತಃ ತಮ್ಮ ಆರೈಕೆಗೂ ಅಸಮರ್ಥರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಟ್ಕಾ ಪದ್ಯ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ತಂಡ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿತು. ಲಭಿಸಿದ ಮಾಹಿತಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಿದ ತಂಡ, ಮಾನವೀಯ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಜೀವಂತಗೊಳಿಸಿತು.
ಅವರ ದೈಹಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಮೌಲ್ಯಮಾಪನದ ನಂತರ, 2025ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 19ರಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮನೋ–ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
“ಔಷಧಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ಮಾನವನಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು ಗೌರವ.”

ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡವು ಮುಂಬೈನ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ನಿಕಟ ಸಮನ್ವಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಕಟ್ಕಾ ಪದ್ಯ ಅವರ ಗುರುತು ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಲು ನಿರಂತರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿತು.
ಆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳ ಫಲವಾಗಿ, ಜಾರ್ಖಂಡ್‌ನ ಸ್ವಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿ, 2025ರ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 30ರಂದು ಕಟ್ಕಾ ಪದ್ಯ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮರುಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾದರು. ಆ ಕ್ಷಣ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿನಿಂದ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಕಥೆಯಂತಿತ್ತು…ದುಃಖದ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಅಲ್ಲ, ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು.

ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದ ನಾಪತ್ತೆ ಒಂದು ಅಪ್ಪುಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಗಿಯಿತು.”
ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ಅಪಾರ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ, ಸಂತೋಷ ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಮತ್ತು ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಯೂ ಸಹ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ದಯೆ, ಏಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸಿತು.

ಇದು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ನೋವು ಮತ್ತು ದಾರಿತಪ್ಪಿದ ಬದುಕಿನ ನಡುವೆ ಜೀವಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅನೇಕ ಹೃದಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಕಿರಣ.
