ಕೆಲವು ಕಥೆಗಳು ಕೇವಲ ಘಟನೆಗಳಲ್ಲ, ಅವು ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಯ ಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುವ ಜೀವಂತ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳು. ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಚಾರಿಟೇಬಲ್ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ತಂಡದ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಸೇವೆಯಿಂದ, ಸುಮಾರು ಏಳು ತಿಂಗಳಿನಿಂದ ಕಾಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗ ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಮಡಿಲಿಗೆ ಮರಳಿ ಬಂದ ಹೃದಯಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿ ಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಯಿತು.

ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಲಲಿತ್ಪುರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಬಂಹೊರಿ ಖಂಡೇಲ್ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಮೂಲದ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜ (ನಿಜವಾದ ಹೆಸರು ಅಂಕಿತ್) ಅವರು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಜಂಕ್ಷನ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ಬಳಿ ದಿಕ್ಕುತೋಚದೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು. ಯಾರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡದೆ, ಉದ್ದೇಶವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ತನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ, ಮಾನವೀಯತೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಬದುಕಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿದವರು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡ.

ಈ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಡ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಕಾರ್ಯಪ್ರವೃತ್ತವಾಯಿತು. ಜನವರಿ 11, 2026 ರಂದು ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಆಶ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಆರೈಕೆ, ಆಹಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಮನೋಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಸೇವೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ಆದರೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸೇವೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿಲ್ಲ.
“ಈ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗೂ ಎಲ್ಲೋ ಒಂದು ಮನೆ ಇದೆ, ಯಾರೋ ಒಂದು ತಾಯಿ ಅವನಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿರಬಹುದು,” ಎಂಬ ಆಶಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಂಡ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿತು. ಅಂತೂ ಆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಫಲ ನೀಡಿತು.

ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 12, 2026 ರಂದು, ಸುಮಾರು ಏಳು ತಿಂಗಳ ಬಳಿಕ, ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜ ಅವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ತಾಯಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪುನರ್ಮಿಲನ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಆ ಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸಲು ಪದಗಳು ಸಾಲುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ವರ್ಷಗಳ ನೋವು, ಕಳವಳ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಒಂದೇ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತೋಷವಾಗಿ ಹರಿದುಬಂದವು.

ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವರ ತಾಯಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು:
“ಅವನು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಸಾಕು… ಅದೇ ನನಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷ.”
ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದವು.

ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜ ಸುಮಾರು ಹತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅರಿವು ಕೊರತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ದೊರಕಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುವ ಮೊದಲು ಅವರು ವೃತ್ತಿಪರ ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಾಫರ್ ಆಗಿದ್ದು ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ ಅಂಗಡಿಯನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ತಂದೆ ಸುಮಾರು ಹದಿನೈದು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹೊರೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಯಿತು.

ಪತ್ನಿ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗ ಮತ್ತು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗಳು ಇದ್ದರೂ, ಅವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಕುಟುಂಬವೂ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟವನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಬೇಕಾಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಈ ದಿನ, ಆ ತಾಯಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಗ ಮರಳಿ ಬಂದ ದಿನ, ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಒಂದು ಆಶೆಯ ಬೆಳಕು ಕಾಣಿಸಿದ ದಿನ.

Family Reunion Brings Hope: Snehalaya Reunites Missing Man with His Mother After Seven Months

Manjeshwar, March 13, 2026: In a heart-warming moment of compassion and dedication, the team of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Kasaragod, successfully reunited Mr. Raja (real name Ankit) with his mother after he had been missing from his home in Bamhori Khandel Village, Lalitpur District, Uttar Pradesh, for nearly seven months.

Mr. Raja was earlier rescued from Mangalore Junction Railway Station by the Snehalaya team after being found wandering in a vulnerable condition. He was reportedly engaging in self-talk, roaming aimlessly, and showing signs of poor personal care, raising serious concerns about his safety and well-being. The situation was promptly brought to the attention of Br. Joseph Crasta, Founder of Snehalaya, following which the Snehalaya rescue team took immediate action.

Mr. Raja was picked up by Snehalaya Charitable Trust on January 11, 2026, and admitted for care, protection, and psychosocial support. During his stay at the centre, continuous efforts were made to understand his background and trace his family.

After continuous follow-up and verification, the Snehalaya team successfully located his family. On March 12, 2026, he was reunited with his mother, marking an emotional and meaningful moment for the family.

According to his mother, Mr. Raja has been suffering from mental illness for nearly 10 years. Due to lack of awareness and financial limitations, he did not receive proper medical treatment. Over the years, he had been wandering in and around the village and nearby areas, and he had gone missing once before as well.

Before the onset of his illness, Mr. Raja was a professional photographer and owned his own photography shop. His father passed away about 15 years ago. He is married and has one son and one daughter, but due to his mental health condition, his wife currently lives separately. The family’s financial condition is poor, making it difficult for them to manage his treatment and care.

The reunion brought immense joy and relief to his mother. Overwhelmed with emotion, she expressed her gratitude and said,
“He stays at home, that itself is enough for me.”

This successful reunion once again highlights the tireless humanitarian efforts of Snehalaya Charitable Trust under the guidance of Br. Joseph Crasta, which continues to rescue vulnerable individuals from streets and railway stations, provide care and rehabilitation, and reunite them with their families whenever possible.
