ಹದಿನೈದು ವರ್ಷದ ವಿಚ್ಛೇದನದ ಬಳಿಕ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿನ ಸಂತಸದ ಮರುಸಂಗಮ: ಧರ್ಮಿ ದೇವಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮರುಸೇರಿಕೆ

ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 09, 2026: ಹದಿನೈದು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ದೀರ್ಘ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕತೆಯ ನಂತರ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಮರುಸಂಗಮವು ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತೊಯ್ದ ಭಾವುಕ ಕ್ಷಣವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾವ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಸುಮಾರು 50 ವರ್ಷದ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಧರ್ಮಿ ದೇವಿ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರ ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಿಹಾರ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಪುರ್ನಿಯಾ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪುರಬ್ ಆದಿವಾಸಿ ಟೋಲಾ ಗೋರಿಯಾರ್ ಗ್ರಾಮ, ರೂಪೋಲಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಮರುಸೇರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು. ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಕಳೆದುಹೋದ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಕ್ಕ/ತಂಗಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಕಂಡ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂತಸದ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ತುಂಬಿತು. ಈ ಮರುಸಂಗಮವು ಕುಟುಂಬದವರಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಹಾಗೂ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರಿಗೂ ಅಪಾರ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ತಂದಿತು. ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಕೂಡ ಅವರನ್ನು ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯವಳಂತೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ಧರ್ಮಿ ದೇವಿ ಸುಮಾರು 15 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕಾಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆರಂಭಿಕ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಹುಡುಕಾಟ ನಡೆಸಿದರೂ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸುಳಿವು ಸಿಗದೆ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ನಿರಾಶರಾದರು. ಕಾಲಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಅವರು ಬದುಕಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂಬ ಭಯವೂ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ಮರಳುವಿಕೆಯ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರಿಗೆ ವರ್ಣಿಸಲಾಗದ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ತಂದಿತು; ವರ್ಷಗಳ ನೋವು ಆ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂತಸದ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಹೊಮ್ಮಿತು.

ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುವ ಮೊದಲು ಧರ್ಮಿ ದೇವಿ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬಪರ ಮಹಿಳೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಕೂಲಿ ಕೆಲಸದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಹಸು, ಮೇಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೋಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಕುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಜೀವನ ಸಾಗಿಸಲು ಅವರು ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮತ್ತು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನ ತಾಯಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಈಗ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ವಿವಾಹಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕುಟುಂಬದವರ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಕೃಷಿ ಜಮೀನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಕೆಲವು ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ಕಲಹಗಳು ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಗಂಭೀರ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರಿದವು. ಆ ಘಟನೆಗಳ ನಂತರ ಅವರು ಮಾನಸಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅಸ್ಥಿರಗೊಂಡು ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಮನೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಟುಹೋದರು.

23 ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 2025ರಂದು ಧರ್ಮಿ ದೇವಿ ಅವರು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥ ಹಾಗೂ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷಿತ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು. ಅವರು ದೌರ್ಬಲ್ಯಗೊಂಡು, ಗೊಂದಲಗೊಂಡ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿರುವಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರುಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಯಿಂದ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಿದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರ. ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಸ್ಟಾ ಅವರ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮನೋಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೈಕೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿತು.

ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಮನೋವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಸೇವೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು. ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಶ್ರದ್ದಾ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ (ಮುಂಬೈ) ಅವರ ಬೆಂಬಲದಿಂದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ತಂಡವು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಿ ಅವರ ಗುರುತನ್ನು ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಲು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಯಿತು.

ಅವರ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಸುಧಾರಿಸಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಮರುಸಂಗಮಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ, 26 ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 2026ರಂದು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವಯುತವಾಗಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮರುಸೇರಿಸುವ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿತು. ಅನೇಕ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ನಂತರ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಿಯವರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಕಂಡ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರ ಹೃದಯ ಭಾವುಕತೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿತು. ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಕೂಡ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಸೇರಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ಬರಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ಧರ್ಮಿ ದೇವಿ ಅವರ ಈ ಜೀವನಯಾನ ಕಾಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಿಂದ ಮತ್ತೆ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಮಡಿಲಿಗೆ ಮರಳುವ ತನಕದ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಕರುಣೆ, ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟಿನ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳು ಕಳೆದುಹೋದ ಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಜೋಡಿಸಬಲ್ಲವು ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಜೀವಂತ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.

From Fifteen Years of Separation to a Heartfelt Reunion: Dharmi Devi Returns to Her Family

Manjeshwar, March 09, 2026: In a deeply emotional moment of reunion after fifteen long years of separation, Mrs. Dharmi Devi (around 50 years old), who had been admitted to Snehalaya under the name Kavya, was successfully reunited with her brother and family in Village Purab Adivasi Tola Goriyar, Rupoli, District of Purnia, Bihar. The reunion brought immense joy not only to her family but also to the villagers and neighbours, whose response was overwhelmingly warm and supportive.

Dharmi Devi had been missing for nearly 15 years. Her family had searched extensively during the early years but eventually lost hope and feared that she might have passed away. The unexpected news of her return brought tears of happiness and relief to her loved ones.

Before the onset of her mental illness, Dharmi Devi was a hardworking woman who supported her family through labour work and by raising livestock such as cows, goats, and poultry. She is the mother of four daughters and one son, all of whom are now married. According to family members, conflicts arose with some villagers after she purchased agricultural land, which gradually escalated and deeply affected her mental health. Following the incident, she became mentally unstable and eventually left home.

On 23 October 2025, Dharmi Devi was found in a distressed and neglected condition at Central Railway Station, Mangalore. She appeared weak, disoriented, and mentally disturbed. Responding with compassion and urgency, the team of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Manjeshwar, Kerala, under the dedicated leadership of Br. Joseph Crasta, rescued her and admitted her to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre, Manjeshwar for treatment and rehabilitation.

During her stay at the centre, she received medical care, psychiatric treatment, counselling, and rehabilitation support. Through persistent efforts and coordination with various organizations, including the support of Shraddha Foundation, Mumbai, the Snehalaya team was able to trace her family and verify her identity.

After ensuring her mental stability and preparing the family for her return, Snehalaya facilitated her safe and dignified reunion with her relatives on 26 February 2026. The family expressed deep gratitude and emotional relief upon seeing her after so many years, while villagers gathered to welcome her back home with affection and support.

Dharmi Devi’s journey from disappearance to reunion stands as a powerful reminder of how compassion, dedicated rehabilitation, and collaborative efforts can restore lost connections and bring hope back to families.
