09-01-2026 ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಶಾಮಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ರೈಲ್ವೆ (RPF) ಸಿಬಂಧಿಗಳು ನೀಡಿದ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿತು. ಆ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು, ಕೋಪಸ್ವಭಾವ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾದಕ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ಬಳಕೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಅವರನ್ನು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿಗಾಗಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ನಿರಂತರ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಸಲಹೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮನೋಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಬೆಂಬಲದ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಂತಹಂತವಾಗಿ ಸುಧಾರಣೆ ಕಂಡುಬಂತು. ಅವರ ಮನೆಯ ವಿಳಾಸವನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಿ, ಎಂ.ಎಸ್. ಪಾಲ್ಯ, ವಿದ್ಯಾರಣ್ಯಪುರ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಿಳಾಸದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಶಾಮಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆ-ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಸಂಬಂಧಿಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಕಲಹದ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಜೈಲು ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನಂತರ ಪ್ರಕರಣದಿಂದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗೊಂಡರೂ, ಆ ಅನುಭವದಿಂದಾಗಿ ಮಾನಸಿಕವಾಗಿ ತುಂಬಾ ನೋವು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಾದ ನಂತರ ಅವರು ಮನೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು.

ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಾಲದ ಆರೈಕೆಯ ನಂತರ, 16-02-2026 ರಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಪುನರ್ಮಿಲನ ಸಂತೋಷ ಮತ್ತು ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ಕ್ಷಣವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

From Distress to Dignity: Snehalaya Reunites Abdul Shami with His Family

Manjeshwar, February 18, 2026: In a deeply moving act of care and commitment, Snehalaya Charitable Trust , under the compassionate guidance of Br. Joseph Crasta, successfully reunited Mr. Abdul Shami with his family after weeks of treatment, support, and persistent follow-up.

Mr. Abdul Shami was rescued by the Snehalaya team from Mangalore Central Railway Station on 09-01-2026, following information shared by the Railway Inspector. At the time of rescue, he was found in a vulnerable condition, struggling with psychiatric problems including irritability, aggressive behavior, and substance abuse. Recognizing his urgent need for care, the Snehalaya team admitted him for treatment and rehabilitation.

With consistent medical attention, counseling, and compassionate psychosocial support, gradual improvement was observed in his condition. He was successfully reunited with his family at M.S. Palya, Vidyaranyapura, Bangalore, Karnataka. Alongside treatment, the team worked tirelessly to trace his residential address and reconnect him with his family, making the long-awaited reunion possible.

Abdul Shami had endured significant hardships in life. Having lost both his parents, he was staying at his relative brother’s house. Due to ongoing family conflicts, he was arrested in connection with a case and spent three years in jail. Though the case was later cleared, the emotional trauma deeply affected him, leading to psychiatric disturbances.

While working with relatives after his release, he suddenly left home and traveled to Mangalore Central Railway Station. There, noticing his distressed state, the Railway Inspector alerted the Snehalaya team, who promptly intervened and rescued him.

After more than a month of dedicated care and rehabilitation, on 16-02-2026, Snehalaya successfully reunited Abdul Shami with his family. The reunion was filled with relief, gratitude, and renewed hope – a powerful reminder that compassion and timely intervention can restore broken lives.
