ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಕೊಲ್ಹಾಪುರ ಮೂಲದ ಶ್ರೀ ದೀಪಕ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಅವರು ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರದ ಕಿರುವತ್ತಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು. ದೇಹದಿಂದ ದುರ್ಬಲರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಅಶಾಂತವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಅರಿವಿಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ದಯನೀಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

24/11/2025ರಂದು, ಮುಂಬೈನ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್‌ಗೆ ರೋಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ತಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಿಯೋ ಡಿ’ಸಿಲ್ವಾ ಅಗ್ರಾರ್ ನೀಡಿದ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಈ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿಯಿತು. ಕ್ಷಣವೂ ವಿಳಂಬ ಮಾಡದೆ, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ತಂಡ ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ-ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆತಂದರು.

ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಮನೋವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ತಂಡವು ಶ್ರೀ ದೀಪಕ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನಿರಂತರ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಸೇವೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿತು. ಅವರ ಪ್ರವೇಶದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೀವ್ರ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಶಾಂತಿ, ಅಲೆದಾಟದ ವರ್ತನೆ, ತಮಗೆ ತಾವೇ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದು, ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಆಕ್ರೋಶ ಮತ್ತು ಅಶಾಂತಿ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳು ಕಂಡುಬಂದವು. ಆದರೆ ಆ ವರ್ತನೆಯ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಮನಸ್ಸಿತ್ತು.

ದಿನಗಳು ಕಳೆದಂತೆ ಆರೈಕೆ ಆಶೆಯಾಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಶ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ತಂಡವು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಹಾಪುರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಿತು. ಬಹುಕಾಲದ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯ ಬಳಿಕ ನಡೆದ ಆ ಮಿಲನದ ಕ್ಷಣ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನೂ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯನ್ನೂ ತುಂಬಿತು. ಹಲವು ತಿಂಗಳುಗಳ ಆತಂಕ ಮತ್ತು ನೋವನ್ನು ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ಸಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕುಟುಂಬವು ಕೊನೆಗೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಪಡೆದಿತು.

ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿನ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬವು ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಹೃದಯಪೂರ್ವಕ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಒಂದು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು, ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಆಶೆಯನ್ನು ಮರುಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು.

Manjeshwar, February 16, 2026: In a deeply moving act of compassion and humanity, Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre, under the loving guidance of Br. Joseph Crasta, has brought hope back to a family by reuniting Mr. Deepak Kumar Patil with his loved ones in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

A native of Kolhapur, Mr. Deepak was found wandering alone in the Kiruvathi forest area of Yellapur, Uttara Kannada district —weak, distressed, and disconnected from the world around him. On 24/11/2025, while returning to Mangalore after handing over patients to Shraddha Foundation in Mumbai, the Snehalaya team, acting on information given by Mr. Geo D’Silva Agrar, noticed his fragile condition. Without hesitation, they stepped in, rescued him, and brought him safely to Snehalaya, offering him protection, care, and dignity.

At the time of admission, he displayed signs of severe mental distress, including wandering behaviour, self-talking, aggression, and restlessness. Behind these symptoms was a silent cry for help. Under the compassionate supervision of the medical and psychiatric team guided by Br. Joseph Crasta, Mr. Deepak received continuous treatment, emotional support, and psychosocial rehabilitation in a safe and nurturing environment.

Days of care turned into hope. Through persistent efforts and careful verification, Snehalaya traced his family in Kolhapur. When the long-awaited reunion finally happened, it was filled with tears of relief, gratitude, and overwhelming emotion. A family that had silently endured fear and uncertainty was finally able to embrace their lost loved one once again.

With folded hands and tearful eyes, his family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Br. Joseph Crasta and the entire Snehalaya team for not only saving a life but restoring their faith and dignity.
