ಇವುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಸೇತುವೆಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತದ್ದು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ.

ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ ಬರ್ಡಮಾನ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸರಳ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಸೆಖಿಜಾಜುಲ್, ಮನೆಯವರಿಗೊಂದು ಕನಸು. ಶಾಂತ ಸ್ವಭಾವ, ದುಡಿಯುವ ಮನಸ್ಸು, ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಆಧಾರವಾಗಬೇಕಿದ್ದ ಯುವಕ. ಆದರೆ ಬದುಕಿನ ಕೆಲವು ತಪ್ಪು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳು, ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಸಂಗಡಿಗರ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಮತ್ತು ಪದಾರ್ಥದ ದುರ್ಬಳಕೆಯ ಜಾಲವು ಅವನ ಜೀವನದ ದಿಕ್ಕನ್ನೇ ಬದಲಿಸಿತು.
ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳಾಗಿ ಕಂಡಿತು, ಮೌನ, ಅಸಹಜ ವರ್ತನೆ, ನಿದ್ರಾಹೀನತೆ. ನಂತರ ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಮಂಜಿನೊಳಗೆ ಮುಳುಗಿತು. ವಾಸ್ತವಿಕತೆಯಿಂದ ದೂರವಾಗುತ್ತಾ, ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಕಷ್ಟಪಡುವ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದ. “Psychosis NOS (substance abuse-related)” ಎಂಬ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆ ಅವನ ಚಿಂತನೆ, ಭಾವನೆ ಮತ್ತು ವರ್ತನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಅಸ್ಥಿರಗೊಳಿಸಿತು.

ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಏನೂ ಹೇಳದೇ ಅವನು ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟನು. “ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂಬ ಮಾತೂ ಕೂಡ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳು ಮರಳಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದಿನಗಳು ಕಳೆದವು. ವಾರಗಳು ಹೋದವು. ತಿಂಗಳುಗಳು ಮುಗಿದವು. ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಆತಂಕ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿತು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆ ಹುಡುಕಾಟ, ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು, ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರು, ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳು. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಪತ್ತೆ ದೂರು ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ತಾಯಿಯ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಬಾಗಿಲಿನ ಕಡೆ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಿಂದ ನೆಟ್ಟಗಿದ್ದವು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಫೋನ್ ಕರೆಗೂ ಹೃದಯ ತಡತಡಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಯಾವುದೂ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದ ಕಾಲ, ಅವರ ಬದುಕು ಭಯ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯ ನಡುವೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿಕೊಂಡಿತ್ತು.

ಇದೀಗ ದೂರದ ಕೇರಳದ ಹೊಸಂಗಡಿ ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ನೆನಪು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥ ಮತ್ತು ಅಸಹಾಯಕರಾಗಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸೆಖಿಜಾಜುಲ್ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು. 18-12-2025 ರಂದು, ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಜಯಕಿರಣ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ವರದಿಗಾರರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ರತನ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆತರಲಾಯಿತು.
ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನೇ ಗುರುತಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ. ಆದರೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರ. ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತ ಅವರ ನೇರ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಸಮರ್ಪಕ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಮನೋಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸಲಹೆ, ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕ ಬೆಂಬಲ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವೀಯ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು.
ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಿವು ಮರುಕಳಿಸಿತು. ಮರೆತುಹೋದ ನೆನಪುಗಳು ಮರಳಿ ಬರತೊಡಗಿದವು.
ಅವನ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ಸುಳಿವುಗಳು ಸಿಕ್ಕವು. ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ, ಸಂಯೋಜನೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳ ನಂತರ, ಬರ್ಡಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಲಾಯಿತು.

Joseph Crasta, successfully reunited Mr. Sekhijajul with his family in Bardaman, West Bengal, ending a year of anxiety, suffering, and painful separation.

Sekhijajul was admitted to Snehalaya on 18-12-2025 , after being informed and brought by Mr. Rathan Kumar, Kasaragod district Jayakiran newspaper reporter. He was found wandering in a distressed condition in the streets of Hosangady and was immediately brought to Snehalaya for care, treatment, and rehabilitation.

At the time of admission, Sekhijajul was suffering from Psychosis NOS (substance abuse-related), which had severely affected his mental stability, awareness, and ability to recognize himself and his surroundings. His condition had led him to live a life of uncertainty, isolation, and vulnerability on the streets.

His family, deeply worried about his disappearance, had filed a missing complaint at their local police station in West Bengal after he went missing for one full year. During this painful period, they lived in constant fear and sorrow, hoping for his safe return but having no knowledge of his whereabouts.

Under the direct supervision of Br. Joseph Crasta, the Snehalaya team provided Sekhijajul with consistent medical care, psychosocial counseling, emotional support, and humane rehabilitation. Br. Joseph Crasta personally ensured that every effort was made not only to stabilize his mental health but also to trace his family with dignity and care.

After careful coordination and verification, his family was successfully located in Bardaman, West Bengal .
