ಮಾನವೀಯತೆ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿದಾಗ, ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ದಾರಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಜನವರಿ 23, 2026. ಮಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರದ ಹಂಪನಕಟ್ಟೆಯ ಚಿರಪರಿಚಿತ ಗದ್ದಲದ ನಡುವೆ, ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಕಾಣದೆ ಕಳೆದುಹೋಗಿದ್ದೊಂದು ಜೀವ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ದಿಕ್ಕು ತಪ್ಪಿದ ನಡೆ, ಅರ್ಥವಿಲ್ಲದ ನಗು, ಹೇಳಲಾಗದ ನೋವು ಅವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ಮೊರೆಯಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು.
“ಒಂದು ಜೀವ ಉಳಿಯಲು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಶಬ್ದಗಳ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ… ಗಮನಿಸುವ ಒಂದು ಮನಸ್ಸೇ ಸಾಕು.”
ಅಂತಹ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ, ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ದುರ್ಬಲ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ರವುಫ್ ಅವರು, ಸಮಯ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರ. ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಇದೇ ಒಂದು ಕರೆ, ಒಂದು ಜೀವದ ಬದುಕಿನ ದಿಕ್ಕನ್ನೇ ಬದಲಿಸಿತು.

Manjeshwar, January 26, 2026: On January 23, 2026, the Snehalaya team successfully rescued a man who was found wandering in a helpless and unprotected condition in the Hampankatta area of Mangaluru city. The rescue operation was initiated after Mr. Abdul Rauf provided timely information regarding the individual’s vulnerable condition to Snehalaya’s founder, Br. Joseph Crasta. The rescued person has been identified as Dheeraj Kumar.
According to the Snehalaya team, he was exhibiting signs of poor personal care, altered behaviour suggestive of ADS, inappropriate self-smiling, irrelevant speech, and disorientation, indicating a serious psycho-social and psychiatric concern. His condition raised significant risks to his personal safety, health, and overall well-being.
Acting swiftly on the information received, Br. Joseph Crasta and his team intervened and safely rescued him, bringing him to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre, Manjeshwar, for comprehensive care, protection, and rehabilitation. He is currently undergoing medical observation, psychiatric evaluation, and structured rehabilitation support aimed at stabilisation and recovery.
