Manjeshwar, January 04, 2026: Mr. Xavier T. Thomas, who had been working in Muscat for several years, was deported by the Muscat authorities after receiving no assistance due to the expiry of his passport and his severe eye condition. Subsequently, under a special order issued by the Government of India, he was repatriated to India.
After arriving at Mangaluru International Airport, Mr. Xavier, whose vision had severely deteriorated, lost his way and was found wandering at the Mangaluru Central Railway Station. Noticing his vulnerable condition, personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) immediately intervened and informed the founder of Snehalaya, Bro. Joseph Crasta, about the situation.
Acting on the information received from the RPF, the Snehalaya team reached Mangaluru Central Railway Station on January 01, 2026, safely rescued Mr. Xavier T. Thomas, and admitted him to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre. Considering his condition and the immediate need for care and protection, this step was taken without delay.
At present, he is receiving necessary medical treatment, continuous monitoring, and psycho-social support at the rehabilitation centre. Necessary assessment procedures related to his condition have also been initiated, and efforts are underway to trace his family members and collect background information.
Under the guidance of Bro. Joseph Crasta, the institution continues its mission of rescuing individuals in distress, providing rehabilitation, and restoring their human dignity.

ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ, ಜನವರಿ 04, 2026: ಕಳೆದ ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಮಸ್ಕತ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಶ್ರೀ ಜೇವಿಯರ್ ಟಿ. ಥಾಮಸ್ ಅವರು, ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಸ್ಪೋರ್ಟ್ ಅವಧಿ ಮುಗಿದಿರುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ತೀವ್ರ ಕಣ್ಣಿನ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಹಾಯ ದೊರಕದೆ ಮಸ್ಕತ್ ಸರ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಹೊರದಬ್ಬಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು. ನಂತರ ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಹೊರಡಿಸಲಾದ ವಿಶೇಷ ಆದೇಶದ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಅಂತರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಮಾನ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ, ಕಣ್ಣಿನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕುಂದಿದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವರು ದಾರಿ ತಪ್ಪಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಪಡೆಯ (RPF) ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳ ಗಮನಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅವರ ಅಸಹಾಯಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ RPF ತಂಡವು ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಂಡು, ಈ ಕುರಿತು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರ. ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ರವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು.
ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಪಡೆಯಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡವು ದಿನಾಂಕ 01-01-2026 ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿ, ಶ್ರೀ ಜೇವಿಯರ್ ಟಿ. ಥಾಮಸ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ–ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿತು. ಅವರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿ, ತಕ್ಷಣದ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಈ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತು.
