Manjeshwar, October 13, 2025: In a remarkable act of humanity and compassion, the Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Manjeshwar, Kasaragod district, successfully rescued Mr. Kayyum (Bedu), aged 52, from Padubidri Street in Mangalore on July 8, 2025. The rescue operation was made possible with the timely assistance of Mr. Kiran Kumar, a well-known businessman from Karkala, who noticed the man’s distressed condition and immediately informed Bro. Joseph Crasta, the founder of Snehalaya.
Mr. Kayyum Originally from Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, He was found in an unhygienic state, wearing tattered clothes, and exhibiting symptoms of mental illness. The Snehalaya team safely admitted him to their Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Center for treatment and care.
After nearly two months of dedicated psychiatric treatment, rehabilitation, and consistent efforts, the humanitarian mission achieved success through the collaboration between Snehalaya and Shraddha Foundation Mumbai.
On September 22, 2025, the humanitarian effort jointly undertaken by Snehalaya and Mumbai’s Shraddha Foundation culminated successfully on September 29, 2025, when Mr. Bedu was reunited with his brother. Mr. Kayyum had been missing for the past six years, and no missing-person report had been filed during this period. His brother has now taken full responsibility for his care. After years of uncertainty, the family joyfully hailed this reunion as a “major positive development.”
This successful rescue and reunion was made possible through the cooperation of the family, local villagers, religious leaders, and police authorities.
The incident stands as yet another testimony to the unwavering commitment of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Manjeshwar, and Shraddha Foundation, Mumbai, in restoring dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging to those living on the margins of society.

ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ, ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 13, 2025: ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಚಾರಿಟೆಬಲ್ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ತಂಡವು 2025ರ ಜುಲೈ 8ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಪಡುಬಿದ್ರಿ ಬೀದಿಯಿಂದ 52 ವರ್ಷದ ಶ್ರೀ ಕಯ್ಯುಂ (ಬೆಡು) ಅವರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಕಳದ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಕಿರಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರ ಸಹಾಯ ದೊರೆಯಿತು. ಅವರು ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿ, ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾರವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.
ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಶಹರನ್ಪುರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಮೂಲದ ಶ್ರೀ ಕಯ್ಯುಂ ಅವರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಅಸ್ವಚ್ಛ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಹರಿದ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಯ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು. ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ತಂಡವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಾನಸಿಕ-ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಸುಮಾರು ಎರಡು ತಿಂಗಳ ನಿರಂತರ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯು, ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು, ಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಯೋಜಿತ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳ ಫಲವಾಗಿದಿನಾಂಕ 2025ರ ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 22ರಂದು ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಂಬೈನ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ ನ ಸಂಯೋಗದ ಈ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಕಾರ್ಯವು 2025ರ ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 29ರಂದು ಬೆಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಸಹೋದರರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಪುನರ್ಮಿಲನಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಶ್ರೀ ಕಯ್ಯುಂರವರು ಕಳೆದ ಆರು ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಕಾಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು ಇವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾಣೆಯಾದ ದೂರು ದರ್ಜೆಯಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಸಹೋದರರು ಇದೀಗ ಅವರ ಆರೈಕೆಯ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಅನಿಶ್ಚಿತತೆಯ ನಂತರ ಈ ಪುನರ್ಮಿಲನವನ್ನು “ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಕಾರಾತ್ಮಕ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ” ಎಂದು ಹರ್ಷಭರಿತರಾಗಿ ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದರು.
ಪ್ರಕರಣದ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತೆಯರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಂತೆ, ಬೆಡು ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಔಷಧಿ ಸೇವನೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸುವ ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತಿಯಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಹೋದರರು ನಿರಂತರ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಪಾಲನೆಯನ್ನು ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸುವ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಮುಂದಿನ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ಶಹರನ್ಪುರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ನುಕುರ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಸಮೀಪದ ವೈದ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸುವ ಯೋಜನೆಯಿದೆ.
ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು, ಗ್ರಾಮದವರು, ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ನಾಯಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಸಹಕಾರದಿಂದ ಈ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿತು.
ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರಾಶ್ರಿತ ಜೀವನದ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಆಶೆಯನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ನೀಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಂಬೈನ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ ಅವರ ಅಚ್ಚಳಿಯದ ನಿಷ್ಠೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
