Manjeshwar, September 29, 2025: After three months of uncertainty and anxiety, Mr. Sunil Koneri was successfully reunited with his cousin in Ankale village, Belgaum district. The emotional reunion brought immense relief and joy to his family members, who had been deeply worried during his absence.

Sunil, a postgraduate in MHMS, had earlier been employed as a doctor in Mumbai, leading a stable and respectable life. However, following the onset of mental illness, both his professional and personal life were disrupted, eventually leading to his disappearance. During this period, no official missing complaint was registered, leaving his family distressed and helpless.

On June 22, 2025, social worker Kiran Kumar from Karkala found Sunil wandering in a distressed state near Bunts Hostel Circle and immediately informed Br. Joseph Crasta, founder of Snehalaya Charitable Trust. The Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Team swiftly rescued him and admitted him to their rehabilitation centre in Manjeshwar, where he received medical treatment, counseling, and essential care.

Later, on September 21, 2025, with the timely intervention and continued care of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, and in collaboration with Shraddha Foundation, Mumbai, his identity was confirmed, and he was safely reunited with his family.

The family expressed heartfelt gratitude, while villagers warmly welcomed him back, extending their support. Belonging to a well-respected family, Sunil has three brothers, all gainfully employed—one of whom serves in the police department. His family remains hopeful that with proper treatment and care, Sunil will regain stability and rebuild his life.

This reunion stands as a testament to the healing power of compassion, community support, and timely humanitarian intervention.
