Manjeshwar, September 19, 2025: A man identified as Mr. Ashok Kumar was found wandering in a state of mental distress on the streets of Surathkal on Thursday. His condition caught the attention of a concerned Citizen, Mr. Kiran Kumar from Karkala, who immediately alerted Br. Joseph Crasta, the founder of Snehalaya.

Acting without delay, the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Team reached the spot, rescued Ashok Kumar, and admitted him to the Snehalaya Rehabilitation Centre in Manjeshwar.

During the intervention, Ashok Kumar appeared highly disoriented and was unable to communicate coherently. Following initial medical and psychiatric assessments, doctors confirmed that he was suffering from a severe mental health condition. He is now receiving psychiatric treatment, counselling, and safe accommodation at the centre.

Snehalaya authorities have appealed to members of the public to share any information that could help trace Ashok Kumar’s family. Their assistance is seen as crucial in reuniting him with his loved ones.
