Manjeshwar, July 19, 2025: A 30-year-old man named Vikas Ram, who had been wandering in the Bendorewell area of Mangalore, was rescued on Saturday afternoon by the Snehalaya Rescue Team. For the past month, Vikas had reportedly been threatening pedestrians and the Bethany Motherhouse sisters in the area with stones and sticks.

Following a complaint lodged by the Bethany Motherhouse sisters, Police Officer Manju immediately contacted Brother Joseph Crasta of Snehalaya. Acting on this alert, the Snehalaya team, led by Br. Joseph Crasta, promptly launched a rescue operation. The team reached the spot and, upon repeated requests from the public, successfully rescued Vikas.

At the time of rescue, Vikas appeared unaware of his surroundings and exhibited signs of severe psychological distress. He was unable to communicate coherently and did not provide any clear information about his residence or family. During the initial assessment, he was found to be speaking in Hindi, raising the possibility that he might be from North India.

Vikas is now in a safe environment under the care of Snehalaya, where he is receiving necessary medical and psychological care. Efforts are underway to trace his family and facilitate a possible reunion.

This incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and also showcases the vital role played by Snehalaya and the police department in responding to mental health emergencies.

Snehalaya has appealed to the public to come forward with any information regarding the whereabouts of Vikas Ram’s family. Public cooperation is crucial in helping reunite him with his loved ones.

ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ, ಜುಲೈ 19, 2025: ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಬೆಂದೂರ್ವೆಲ್ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ 30 ವರ್ಷದ ವಿಕಾಸ್ ರಾಮ್ ಎಂಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ, ಕಳೆದ ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳಿನಿಂದ ಬೆಂದೂರ್ವೆಲ್ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಬೆಥನಿ ಮದರ್ ಹೌಸ್ ಧರ್ಮಭಗಿನಿಯರಿಗೆ ಕಲ್ಲು ಹಾಗೂ ದೊಣ್ಣೆಗಳಿಂದ ಬೆದರಿಕೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾ ತೊಂದರೆ ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಮಂಜು ಅವರು ಬೆಥನಿ ಮದರ್ ಹೌಸ್ ನ ಧರ್ಮಭಗಿನಿಯರು ನೀಡಿದ ದೂರಿನ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ಬ್ರದರ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಿದರು, ಈ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಾಲಯದ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ತಂಡವು ಶನಿವಾರ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಾರಂಭಿಸಿತು. ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ತಲುಪಿದ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ ಮತ್ತು ತಂಡದವರು ಆತನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು.
