On August 1, 2024, Mrs. Olivia Crasta, Trustee and Secretary of Snehalaya, along with Mr. Basavaraj, a staff member of Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation in Mumbai, and the Snehalaya team, rescued a mentally ill man named Annayya, approximately 57 years old, from near Mangalore Central Railway Station. He was admitted to the Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre for Men.
Annayya was found sitting by the roadside, dressed shabbily with poor personal hygiene and displaying aggressive behavior. He communicates in Kannada and claims to be from Bangalore, mentioning his parents as the late Ramesh and Jayamma.
